So, Bernier is gone, and I am not crying about it. Lots of options out there.
I for one would like to see a trade with ANA involving Hiller and Ryan. What would it take on our part you think? |

You willing to have a another 2006 year if it doesnt pan out? - nonpoint22
If Mason is terrible, can he be much worse than posting the 900 save % that Bryzgalov posted last year? At least if Mason provides similar numbers he's doing it at a fraction of the cap hit. |

The Flyers are always cooking on all cylinders during the offseason - PhillySportsGuy
Yeah too bad those cylinders seem to be worn out from all the wear and tear all these years.....as worn out as the flyers off season philosophy |

curious what teams, in your opinion, have "a plan or durable philosophy" and how you'd describe it - Crimsoninja
DET, NJ are both committed to a certain style and type of plyr and while NJ has varied somewhat the devs are known as a tight checking team that is more the sum of their parts. the kovy deal was an anomaly to keep the window open.
DET is a puck possession team that builds mainly thru the draft and has a rigorous commitment to making sure prospects are trained in their style, w/o rushing them. BOS and LA are clearly developing the rep as D first, physical teams. SJ went out and brought in a DET coach to try and push a similar style to the wings.
there is not this roulette wheel virtually every off season w/ most of these orgs. SJ saw a chance to grab Thornton, but deals like that are rare and it's one of the reasons Chiarelli was brought into BOS. |

Definitely.
In fact....I'd rather have Read than that whole package - Giroux_Is_God

Read, 11th overall and either a middle level prospect like Cousins or the 41st overall pick. That may not even get it done |

The Flyers always base their offseason philosophy off of who wins the cup. If they Bruins win, look for them to add more grit. If the Hawks win, look for them to add more speed and scoring. |

No, because Bob Ryab is not worth his money.
Also, I'd like to keep Read a Flyer at any cost.
Finally, yeah I'd like to keep some picks to deepen the pool of kids.
Trading for BOB RYAB just doesn't make sense. |

So top 6 forward & decent backup for Bernier. Bit too much IMO |

Trading for Ryan makes sense at the right price but I am not giving up 11 for anything |

I hear you. It is just that, to me, BUBBRY BAH is who he is. So you think he is overvalued? How do you see him adapt to a change of scenery? Thinking it could do him good.
But to keep Read at any cost? I consider him somewhat of a trade piece, but I am a noob. How about shipping him for picks then?
Agree on the youth part though.

Its more then people think....Matt Frattin isnt a bad player by any standard...he not a first liner but he could end up top 6 and he is cheap which isnt bad for LA either

The perception is that Ryan is some great player. Matt Read will score maybe 15-20 less points but play good two way hockey on any line and kill penalties. |

He's not a top 6 guy yet, it was more than one piece and a backup goalie included,
I hope this doesn't mean we're still holding on to our goalie another year, its early yet anyway. |
