What's your excuse for not making the playoffs? - 6Karlsson5
No excuses, but here's the reason the Oilers missed the playoffs:
The team isn't good at all in transition, either with the puck or without it. Goaltending was good, but not inordinately timely. We had a bit of bad "puck luck" early in the season, with Hall, Eberle and Nuge simultaneously suffering poor on ice shooting percentages.
Mostly though, we were simply inexperienced. At the three quarter mark, we were one of the hottest teams in hockey and sitting in a playoff spot. Look at the way the leafs went out in game 7: on a larger scale, that's how the last quarter of our season went. Not enough experience.
We didn't make the playoffs because the team didn't deserve to make the playoffs by the way they played. |

re-sign him or watch us poach him as a UFA. I'm dead serious, I would call Nonis day one if I were MacT, he's a perfect fit for us. - Morris
I would literally cry if we lost him for nothing. Who cares if he will never sniff 30 goals again? Hes good for 15 while playing some of the hardest minutes in the league. Shutdown winger thats physical and can chip in. My ideal third line winger. Wish he had a clone for the other wing |

People seem to think the Oilers need another superstar in the top 6 and they are dead wrong. All we need is a reasonable facsimile of Mikhail Renberg at 2-3 M per year. |

Ya that jake24242 douche Leaf fan is stalking me now cuz I stomped on his Phanuef for Gagner and the 7th overall proposal.

Didn't see that proposal but if true, obviously a ridiculous trade offer. |

fair enough. No matter what ended up happening with Boston, you have to be a pretty damn good team to hang in with Pittsburgh |

Why does he want phanuef gone anyhow. He does so much for our team. They see him do something stupid once or twice a game and assume hes garbage. They seem to forget the other 24 minutes of shutting down the other teams top lines while contributing offensively. - pbrsimps
My point to him was why would we give up a young 2C and a top draft choice for a guy that is UFA in a year? People just don't seem to understand asset management these days... |

I think theyre both good young players. But your hate for gardiner (or Leaf fans perception of Gardiner) is really annoying.
Gardiner was a top 4 D, (3rd in D minutes) in his rookie season, and handled it very well. This past year he was in the AHL during the lockout and to get up to speed after a concussion. Also, there was no rush to bring him up as Tor had a bunch of D doing decently and would have to clear waivers to get sent back down.
I think Gardiner is similar to schultz at this point, young top 4 PMD with the potential to be a top 2. Mind you, to inexperienced top 4 PMD. Simple as that. - pbrsimps

He's allright. Just a kid, but he can be sorta funny here and there, and overall is only semi retarded. Trust me. We have much worse regulars on here. Or didn't you here that Edmonton has a better D than Boston? |
