Ew nick shultz. Gagner for Gardiner? Nah pass. Gardiner has better potential. Gagner has never hit 50 points. Gardiner can change the pace of the game with his skating and puck movement. Would package Gardiner for a better player if I were the Leafs. - Smurfs-A-Joke
Gardiner's (frank)ing criminally overrated. This blog was nonsense. But Gagner is a proven NHLer. Gardiner has proven jacksh*t. One good playoff series and the hockey world thinks he's a top 3 pick for (frank) sakes |

Gagner was on pace for 65. No matter. Reimer was a top 10 goalie this year. Gardiner is a blue chip prospect (albeit not worth 7th overall or more )
Cloutier just made this blog to piss off leafs fans and get tons of hits - TheNugeIsHuge

this is a pretty poor analysis of the situation... Gagner has established himself as a solid NHL player, sure - but Gardiner's potential skill I would say surpasses Gagner's. Reimer is also a solid goalie, and after he threw the team on his back this past year (Despite a shaky glove hand), and the public confidence administration has vested him, he will not be moved. Bernier was brought in to fight for the job with Reimer.
You can have Gagner for 5ish million. |

I don't think he'll fetch that, but I'm pretty sure a) there's little chance Gagner gets traded and b) the Oilers will be happy to keep him.
This isn't a trade worth discussing. |

He had a good series where Reimer stood on his head the whole series... Gardiner is overrated by you Toronto fans. Not saying Eberle, Hall, Nuge, Yak, and Schultz aren't overrated by us Oiler fans. But I'd take Gagner over Gardiner any day.. |

four months ago Prock claimed Gagner should be in the AHL. Vritually no one thinks Gagner is worth anything in a trade. |

You would say? Weird. Most of the TO fans have reasonable expectations for Gardiner
I wouldn't do Gagner for Gardiner. I'd do Gagner for a proven top 4 D. Gagner finished this season 16th in C scoring. While Gardiner spent his season in the AHL. Gardiner's 11 months younger than Gagner. You gotta stop putting your faith in that some day gardiner's gonna be a top pairing D |

The Gardiner fans were actually formed last year, during his regular season performance. He was alright over the playoff series, handled the puck really well but really hasn't been able to get his stride. You would have to watch him regularly to appreciate the flashes of brilliance, which could translate into him being a very good player, depends though.

holy poop if its Gagner and N Schultz for Reimer and Gardiner, Oil lose that trade. Oil would need a center back
being a big Oiler fan i dont want them to give up Gagner... love Gagner. and they can afford him - FLYERSROCK!
I wouldn't say Edmonton loses that deal at all. |

Honestly I take Gardiner if it was a 1 for 1 swap, I'd risk it.

Cloutier mentioned the Oil possibly drafting Lindholm as a replacement for Gagner this season if Gagner is traded. The only problem with that scenario is that Lindholm is under contract next year in Sweden and would not be eligible to come to North America until 2014-2015 season. |

Gagner at 5'10 is more physical than Gardiner at 6'0.
Let's stop bringing up Gardiner people. TO fans obviously think he's the next big thing. |

So why would they trade a player who's shown the potential to cruise over 50 points when he seems to be valued as a sub-50 point hack? To what end would that be beneficial to the Oilers? |

He could be, he's got the potential, that's the point. Gagner's top potential is a decent 2nd line player. I think the potential on Gardiner's side and Gagner's proven history really does bring their value with a similar range.
He was also in the AHL post injury to get his game together, he was playing as part of the roster last year.

EDM's not gaining anything there. Just an unproven D prospect and losing their only top 6 C at the start of the year |
