Gardiner's (frank)ing criminally overrated. This blog was nonsense. But Gagner is a proven NHLer. Gardiner has proven jacksh*t. One good playoff series and the hockey world thinks he's a top 3 pick for (frank) sakes - TheNugeIsHuge
All prospects are overrated if your comparing them to proven NHLers. I guess you believe Klefbom is not even close to worth a proven NHLer like Liles? Of course you don't, because Klefbom is your prospect.
No one is saying Gardiner is guaranteed or is worth Jones or Drouin in a trade but no way are the Leafs going to trade Gardiner and Reimer for a small 2nd line center man. |

I wouldn't say Edmonton loses that deal at all. - Oneonta Penguin
well considering that we don't need another goalie and that we upgrade on D, but lose our 2C with no one to replace him, then yes. we lose the deal.
or were you not able to follow his train of thought? |

I don't think we lose that deal, AND I don't think it's a good deal for us either. Why trade away depth at Centre and defense??
Good thing this trade will never happen in a million years. |

He could be, he's got the potential, that's the point. Gagner's top potential is a decent 2nd line player. I think the potential on Gardiner's side and Gagner's proven history really does bring their value with a similar range. - Nastradamus
Gagner was just 16th in C scoring at 24. So you're saying the best he'll turn into is a top 60 C in the league?
Jeez. Again, leafs fans at their best. |

Honestly I take Gardiner if it was a 1 for 1 swap, I'd risk it. - oilers2k14
Well obviously it make sense to give up an expendable, but dependable forward, for the potential that Gardiner has, it would be a medium risk/high potential trade off.

yea it would be bad for the leafs because they have no D depth. Doesn't mean that's fair value for EDM.
Not a chance I deal Gags for Gardiner |

Gagner at 5'10 is more physical than Gardiner at 6'0.
Let's stop bringing up Gardiner people. TO fans obviously think he's the next big thing. - TheNugeIsHuge
Bigger than Klefbom? I still think he'd be a good add for the Oilers. Maybe not for Gagner but he's got talent, just needs the ice time. |

Hey man I've seen Gagner play, and I know what expectations even Oilers fans have of him, so if you're going to sit here and argue with me that he's likely going to be a top 10 centre in the league, then we're likely on different pages. I won't disagree that Gagner had a good season, I just know aside from this shortened season I've seen erratic performances from him

Liles is a #6 D man on a weak defensive core. I'm better than him.
Again. 16th in C scoring at 24. Somehow smart leafs fans see that as topping out as a 2nd line C |

Two points.
1) Gagner isn't expendable. At least right now with Nuge on the shelf and Belanger and Horcoff unlikely to be back.
2) Evaluating Gagner's value still involves evaluating his potential too. He's young and still has lots of room for growth.
But I don't think any such trade will get anywhere close to happening. |

I don't disagree Gagner still has time and space to grow, I just am sceptical of how high his max potential is. And your right, but I meant relatively expendable big picture wise.

Richard Cloutier: Gagner Turning Over a New Leaf? - Maxbone
So there's where I'll leave it: Gardiner and Reimer for Gagner and ?...Perhaps Nick Schultz.
Are you (frank)ing sh!tting me bud? You should be fired, this is ridiculous, what public school lunch room did you overhear that in?
Joke, why people keep reading this sh1t is just silly, your best to not writing anything at all..

I'd trade Gagner for a guy like Hjalmarsson. #3 D man on the likely cup winning team. Proven commodity. Gardiner could be a #5 D man for all we know. Gagner's already a great 2C and could be a fringe 1C |

gagner is one year older than gardiner. but of course he's maxed out in potential, while gardiner still has tons of developing to do. |

Hey, you said he was top 16 in the NHL season, and had room to grow, since he had a lot of potential. I'm not imagining things, just using logic. Not imagining Gardiner's trade value either, you're the same person that accused Leafs fans of being huge fans of Gardiner after a good playoff series, but overlooked the fact that he had a stellar season last season, and actually didn't have that great of a impressive playoff series (Good, not great) |
