He is, I guess it's more that when Metallica does softer, slower music, I'm changing thee station or hitting the shuffle button.
Unforgiven? I'm giving it the "un-listen". - Jsaquella
fair enough. while that song is still listenable to me, i do see your point. they definitely did excel the most within certain parameters. however, strictly from a rhythm guitar sense, how does one play slowly, while exhibiting large quantities of technical talent? while i by no means am trashing on slow songs, they typically get their merit from the quality of the songwriting, and not by the rhythm guitarist methodically alternating between a g and an a chord |

Lars Ulrich is definitely not a top tier drummer. Not even close. - BulliesPhan87
he was alright in his prime. nothing extremely noteworthy. now to me, he is often a top tier douchebag who represents what is problematic with them now |

Lars Ulrich ass rapes a metronome on a daily basis. Between him and Adam Levine's auto tune, they will be the two machines who lead the revolution and kill us all when the computers get intelligent.

So hard to pick from with all the incredible songs they've put out. I know #1 is Gimme Shelter. Which I think is the greatest rock song ever made. I'd have to think about the remaining two. So hard to choose.

A fair point, a lot of what goes into it is opinion, of course. Hell a few years back, Rolling stone did a list of the best guitarists in rock and names like Eddie Van Halen and Alvin Lee finished well behind guys like George Harrison.
I also have to admit that, besides Oasis, I have multiple songs by every band mention in this thread on my iPod. |

He was good enough to be in Metallica, to put it succinctly. I agree with the latter. Metallica's strong suit was definitely the strong rhythms, vocals, and coasting on Dave Mustaine's writing.
EDIT: To clarify, I am not one of those people who argues Megadeth is better than Metallica. |

OHL’s best: Nurse, Zadorov, and Monahan lead impressive group
North American Central Scouting chief scout Mark Seidel considers Monahan a more advanced version of Philadelphia Flyers centre Sean Couturier at the same age. Seidel added that in at least three previous recent drafts, Monahan would have been picked first overall.

It's all opinion, and it's all just BSing really. That's the fun of it, it's not like you can quantify this stuff with goal totals or corsi ratings. Not that we struggle to be subjective around here, but at least we're really in our element I guess? |

they are very similar, but also different at the same time. its hard to ever actually have a constant of megadeth as a band to fully evaluate, since the lineup changed so much. it was basically just whatever hand picked musicians were in daves good graces at the time. |

I wonder if there is a chance Monahan goes in the top 4 with that kind of acclaim? |

Absolutely. Hell, for me, I can pop on classic Van Halen and happily while away the evening.
But I like the Stones, Beatles, Who, Metallica, Megadeth, Cream, Floyd...it's all got it's good and bad. |
