So they wouldn't air some of the best hockey to be played all season in a prospective market in fear of causing high expectations? Talk about typical NHL marketing. We oughta show them a NJ PHX game to really get the blood pumping. - GirouxForTheShow

I'm kind of starting to believe in the Bobby Ryan trade rumors. I'm not sure why the Ducks would want Coburn back, not because he isn't a useful piece, but they have a pretty good group of six, not to mention some guys close to being ready for the NHL.
The question becomes what is the proper value for top line winger (who is inconsistent) for top pairing d-man (who is inconsistent). Both were high draft choices and relatively close in age. #11 overall is just too steep in my opinion. |

Id consider Ryan streaky but not inconsistent if that makes sense. The guy is a lock for 30 goals a year, the last 4 years I believe. |

A 30 goal scorer is impressive. But my question, looking at the two players involved is how much more compensation is needed to make it a "fair hockey trade"? Of course, I'm omitting the dire straits the Flyers d-core could become with this trade. Scoring is important, but Coburn has similar (maybe not equal) value. A d-man who can play over 23 minutes/gm, a lot of "hard" minutes on the PK is pretty valuable also. Instead of #11, what about #41 and another piece? From a hockey trade standpoint, I don't think what Ryan brings to the table as opposed to what Coburn brings to the table needs to be bridged by the #11 overall pick to make it a "fair hockey trade". Maybe I'm undervaluing scoring. |

I know im way late on the music conversation, but here's my opinion anyway
My most overrated band of all time is the doors. I love them, but compared to others band's they lack the technical musicality that makes music great.
Many people may say the Beatles are overrated, but they are the essential pop band. They basically created pop music, dominated it, and traversed into other realms of music. Some songs have rock, hard rock, country, jazz, and swing elements. They knew what they were good at and they did it well.
Personal top 3 bands for me, pink Floyd, grateful dead, and led zeppelin. For me, they each provide a certain aspect of rock that the others lack. Pink Floyd had the psychedelic rock. The dead had slot of psychedelic elements but infused it all within long jams where each member plays off of each other perfectly. And zeppelin was pure rock. Not hard or heavy, just solid rock, while infusing jazz elements.
My favorite "current" band is the mars Volta. Mostly psychedelic rock with incredible guitar riffs, long jams, and cryptic lyrics.
And maroon 5's first album was pretty decent, before they went electronic and auto-tuned every word.
My opinion for what its worth sorry its a long post |

I dont think youre undervaluing it. Coburn is a minutes eater for sure, and on this team that is more valuable, especially with the age on the backend. The scoring should be there with the younger players who underachieved last year in the goals department, along with Hartnell and Briere. It was a total team effort in not lighting the lamp, sans G and JAke. |

I believe the reason why this deal has a good chance of getting done is in particular over the last couple of years the Flyers haven't exactly gone into "stealth mode" when trying to make trades. Outside of the Mike Richards trade and probably Grossmann, all of the other trades were already in the media - Versteeg, Carter, L. Schenn, Bryz, Weber. |

Today was the autograpgh day at Scotty's last charity golf tournament, so I left work early, took my Hammer autograhed jersey and my Flyers golf bag and headed in.
There were 10 Flyers there(at least they are currently Flyers lol), and everyone signed my items and took a pic with me.
When you live in dirtlump Sask these opportunities don't happen often, so it was very cool, even for a cough cough, mature fellow like myself.
Side notes
Everyone was cool but I didn't care for Jody Shelley much.
Everyone really liked the golf bag and asked where I got it.
Schenn boys were the coolest.
Holtby had the longest line there. (I walked right up to Scotty)
It was a great day for a 40yr+ Flyer Fan ! |

If they do acquire Ryan for Coburn +, I wouldnt be surprised if they trade Simmonds or hartnell for edler. |
