Im talking more about the others team transition up the ice on our guys, I remember numerous times forwards losing there guy going to the net, or lack of hustle back into our end on the other teams rush... - Buzzo
Wow. That is a good one. Never heard that before.
The forwards arent the problem. They have/had plenty of players capable of playing 2 ways. Couturier, Read, Talbot, Rinaldo, Fedotenko, Gagne, Schenn, Voracek.
Only guys I see as being a liability are/were Briere, Hartnell, Simmonds, and maybe Giroux... though he is capable of playing a decent defensive game when not pressing attack.
The reason they were out of position a lot of the time was because the defenseman often lost assignments, or coughed up the puck, or couldn't clear the puck.
It is nothing that Gagner would solve. A faster defense capable of moving the puck will help.
I am right. |

Aren't they doing the 1st 3 rounds of draft on Sunday? NHL network says draft starts at 8 pm? Or are they just doing 1st round Sunday night? |

My thoughts exactly, been pushing Monahan for a while! - Rocktane
If the Flyers get Monahan would one of the centers have to be moved? We would be pretty deep down the middle, Giroux, Couturier, Laughton, Schenn (though he can play wing) and Monahan if selected. |

Gagner is supremely skilled, but he's small, slow-footed, often soft, poor on faceoffs, and his coaches have been careful to line-match him away from tough assignments... how is that an upgrade over any of our current centers (or even Briere, for that matter)? - Tomahawk
Are you talking about Sam Gagner here or Jon Sim? |

That might depend on how NHL ready the Flyers feel that Monahan is.

I think Coburn and the Flyers' next 3 2nds for Schultz will get it done |

Good point. I see a lot of comparison with Monahan with Couturier in regards of defensive awareness and some scouts saying even further develop at the same age I guess in offensive capabilities. Would be interesting pick to say the least. |

If your going to move up it shouldnt be to select Monohan. The only reason to move up IMO would be for any of the top 5. Other then that, IMO we either don't need them, or would be better served staying at 11.
Example: I would rather draft Rist or Pullock then move up to take Nurse.
We do not need to move up to get a player like Monohan when we have Schenn, Giroux, Couturier, Laughton, and Cousins... It would be a waist of assetts. As a matter of fact if Monohan dropped to us, I would be okay trading down 1-2 spots if the return was favorable. |

This is purely a guess on my part, based on watching this team and how they operate, but if the Flyers drafted a center like Monahan, I'd be certainly checking twitter expecting another (trade) shoe to drop. |

After seeing that TSN video on Nurse (right side), and his Jagr-ish work ethic, I'm kind of starting to warm up to the kid.
