No body has answered the other part...
IF the Sabres sign back Briere....
is he our new captain?????
Vanek doesn't want it.. Ehrhoff isn't leader mentality yet....
Briere holds it for the length of his 2-3 year contract while Girgensons/Foligno mature up? - JVince11
Ott is clearly the captain of this team. Whether Briere returns or not. |

agree jarco will make this team a cup contender in less than 5 years. IF hes willing to trade anyone I dont want them as I think hes a better evaluator of talent then darcy will ever see - hubie
They only way I see them trading us a guy like Murray... is if we take the bad contract of Umberger or Wisnieski.... |

I am so confused some days on here...
I have heard people say that Lindholm is the second coming of Nic Backstrom and 1C potential... and I see other days people say that Monahan is a physical center with potential to be a 2C at most... Lindholm is a better scorer than Monhan..
and then other days... people say that Monahan is better than Lindholm.. I don't get it..
IF they had to be compared to a current NHL player... who would they be? - JVince11
Lindholm= Backstrom
Monahan= Toews lite? Still think he's better than Lindholm though |

You can't put the C on Ott's chest... yo ucan't... he has 1 year in Buffalo... and is an agitator...
he could be gone after this season or even at the deadline... Couver offered a 1st for him at this past year's deadline.
I don't see him resigning in Buffalo if it is a long rebuild. Playing with his step-brother or not.. I just don't see it. |

Monahan's comparable is Eric Staal
Lindholm's is Peter Forsberg
Neither is a talent level comparison, just style.
These are 18 year olds. Both have 1c potential and total bust potential. I like Lindholm better because he is clearly more explosive and shifty, but Monahan is bigger. Both are good prospects, and both would benefit the Sabres. |

As much as i love Girgensons... I think he needs at least half a year in the AHL as well.... Maybe he comes up at the deadline when we trade off a Vanek or Ott?
Does Larsson or Armia make it to Buffalo?
We could load our AHL with prospects of Girg, Grigo, Larsson, and Armia.. or we could bring up Armia and Grigo.. |

Part of me likes the idea of having all of those guys play together on a stacked AHL squad. Meanwhile, build a Sabres team full of veterans on one year 'Prove-it' deals. Trade the best of those at the deadline, and bring up the young-ins. Gets more picks, lets the young guys build confidence, pretty much ensures another top pick next year. BUILDING is the name of the game. |

Dallas did it... They signed Jagr to a small prove it contract and turned it into Boston's 1st round pick. |

I would go as far as to say that Ott will be a Sabre for at least 5 years. Unless this franchise takes a complete dive.
Who cares if he is an agitator? To me he is such an obvious choice for captain. |

Yeah, look at guys like Simon Gagne, PM Bouchard, Ryan Whitney, Mathew Lombardi. Guys like that. All you need is one of them to excel and you've got a 1st rounder. |

What about just resigning Pardy or signing UFA Ryan O'Bryne?
I would love to have stay at home guy like O'Bryne with Myers. |
