Already 90 degrees at my house in RI ... Ocean has warmed to almost 80.
One of the most brutal heat waves I can remember.

This feels like all the right makings for a major hurricane this season ...

Hey Caper ... thinking of doing a vacay to your stomping grounds next May, any recommends? We were thinking of maybe doing the train from Montreal to Moncton to Halifax and then making our way up to CBI

Oh nice. May is a pretty good time of year to visit the Maritimes. Downtown Halifax is a great party city that time of year (right after University ends) with dozens of irish pubs that offer traditional Celtic music as well as your common bar bands scene. Spring Garden Road and Argyle Street are both packed solid with outside, sidewalk patios. Also the boardwalk overlooking Halifax harbour as many pubs and bars you can sit outside right on the water and eat Seafood and listen to great music.

The Harbour hopper is neat if you want a tour the city, it literally goes back and forth from the water and land around downtown explaining some of the historic sights around the city. Citadel Hill is awesome. 1700's era fortress downtown overlooking the city with people dressed in era specific clothes firing cannons and marching around with muskets. In the same area you can go to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic which is cool as well as the graveyard of all those who perished on the Titanic.

Halifax is basically a condensed version of Boston.

If you're making the trip to CBI, do the cabot trail. It was voted by national geographic this month as one of the top 10 costal drives in the world. Start in Baddeck(summer home of Alexander Graham Bell) and go counter clockwise around the trail. Camp in Inverness and visit the beach. If you golf, play a round at the Highland Links.

a few pics of the trail

CBB provides a great recap..I loved Halifax when I visited there about 10 years ago...great pubs...scenery...Peggy's cove was cool too...

I also went to St. John's , Newfoundland which was also great...had some trouble interpreting some of the Newfie language tho..

Dude I grew up next province over from Newfieville and have a (frank)ing job understanding them. Plus I work with a lot of them in the Oil Patch. Great guys if you can understand what they are saying.

Thanks for the run down CBB! Really looking forward, never been East of TO (in Canada) and really enjoyed the West Coast, so should be a good time.

Were you able to watch him at all in Providence last year? From what I read, sounded like he chugged balls most of the year but started to come on pretty strong at the end of the season and into playoffs?

Think I'm going to take the Old Man to the CGY game. He's a Flames fan so with the return of Iggy and all should be a good one.
