Bruins close to final roster

* The final fight is for the spare forward position. Nick Johnson and Jordan Caron are the two likely finalists. Both would require waivers to be assigned to Providence. Matt Fraser, Matt Lindblad, and Ryan Spooner are on their entry-level deals. - Toad in Nj
I can see them both staying around as extras ... |

Coach on Caron:"This year he’s a guy that needs waivers so there’s going to be decisions to make & we’re giving him all the chances we can"
Translation: He got beat out of a job and we can't send him to Providence without waivers so we're stuck with him. |

Pretty much...play him and hopefully trade him and let other guys who deserve it take his spot once he is gone... |

Holy (frank)...what a winning goal by Eriksson....

Beauty. Spooner played well, Merlot had a solid game. D looked rotten, 44 had some trouble with Kane and speed to the outside, Bart got beat pretty bad on Scheifle's goal, but Svedberg kind of froze. Marchand's hands haven't caught up to his brain yet, too much noodling.
Caron, Smith, Fraser ... meh. Lindblad and Johnson showed some real good hustle again. |

So looks like Johnson and Caron as 13 and 14 and Bartkowski and Miller as 7 and 8.
Guess here is Chiarelli plans to "assign" Krug and Hamilton to Providence for a day since they have to be cap compliant Sunday at midnight until they can place Savard on LTIR on Monday. That explains Miller's presence here to account for the #6 spot when Krug and Hamilton are in Providence (on paper).
Always liked Miller as a defensive D-type ... Poor man's Adam McQuaid. Little doubt he'd have a spot on an NHL team with weaker depth needing a stay-at-home right now. |

Would be surprised if PC isn't working the phones like a 1-900-whore to move Caron. Sounds like he played pretty well last night from listening to Jets radio. |

I was ready to show Bartkowski the door a couple seasons' ago after watching him flatline in Providence for a couple of years, and then last season something finally clicked with him and he "got it."
Bartkowski is 25. Caron is 22.
Too early to give up on Caron (as painful as it's been), especially since we spent a 1st round pick on him and we'd get nowhere near that value in return right now.
The smart move is for Bruins' brass to continue nurturing him along and hope that the same thing that happened to Bart happens with Caron.
Worst case scenario is that we dump him, which is basically what happened with Hamill.
I'd rather get nothing back than another Chris Bourque |

@NHLBruins: Boston Bruins place Nick Johnson on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Providence. Read release: http://t.co/ZeNNf10lmK ^BB
They must think they can get something for Caron, but certainly he didn't do much to hang around...will see..

Hope Johnson clears ... He was supposed to replace Trent Whitfield's leadership role in Providence, but he certainly seemed to earn a spot in Boston. Strong camp ....

Oh for sure, I don't think he's a bad player, and for a late 1st rounder, you can't expect sure fire greatness. I think that's why we see Johnson down now, they think he'll have value in the future. I think if he was waiver exempt Caron would be spending a lot more time in Providence to refine his game. Time will tell if he can put it together to be more than a mucker.
