Old pal in new colors
Injured Carolina goalie Anton Khudobin watched the Bruins at their morning skate from the bench and chatted with many of his ex-teammates and coaches. Khudobin spent two years in the organization and was Tuukka Rask’s backup last season, going 9-4-1 with a 2.32 goals-against average and .920 save percentage, before signing a free agent deal for $800,000 with Carolina.
“He was a really good player for us and an even better person last year,” Julien. “Things like that happen during a career, players moving on. It doesn’t mean you lose that friendship. It was nice to catch up with him.”
Passionate fans
Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg, who played three seasons for Carolina, was asked if the local fans have a good understanding of hockey.
“Well . . . they’re very loud,” said Seidenberg. “I don’t want to knock them. They like the game, but they aren’t as knowledgeable as they are up north.
“They like watching it, they just don’t know the game like the people in Boston.” . . |

starting to be time to look at securing the roster.
i thought there was a good amount of depth at D.
seems like a lot of bottom 9 talent in the system. missing some of the top tier scoring talent.
who is out there and available?
got spooner, fraser in the wings down in prov vegas
millar seems good, bart is serviceable. hows the morrow kid and anything else on the farm? |

On the farm, Spooner is the cream of the crop. We all know what he can bring and what he is capable of becoming. As far as NHL-readiness for the forwards in Providence, I'd say that Nick Johnson is there as well, but with much more-limited upside. Guys that probably deserve a sniff of the big leagues but are "unknowns" at that level would be Frasier, Camper, and even Cunningham ... With Frasier having the biggest potential upside of the 3.
They've been limiting Knight's ice time this season and bringing him along slowly after the disastrous injury-riddled season he had last year. Still, with very limited ice time, he's like 4th or 5th in scoring on the team this season, and he's starting to play the physical brand of hockey he played in Junior. He's probably a year or 2 away from serious consideration in Boston, barring any more setbacks.
Koko is starting to round into form this season as is Seth Griffith. Both have NHL potential, but are farther away. Put Lindblad in that group as well, but he tops out at 3-4 line NHL talent.
On D, aside from Bartkowski and Miller who would both be out of a healthy Boston lineup right now, Trotman and Morrow are the next two in line, running just about neck and neck in development. Morrow has the higher offensive upside. Trotman is the "safer" defenseman. He's been injured for about half of the season so far ... He's just coming back now.
Casto may turn out to be an NHL caliber defenseman as well, but he's much farther away than Morrow and Trotman.
In goal, Svedberg is having a rough start this season ... Subban had a terrible start but has reigned it in a bit more recently. Goals allowed has been Providence's biggest problem this season. Neither goalie has looked particularly good, with Svedberg looking the better of the two. |

I'm not sold on Kane, got the tools, but not sure the drive is there. |

In a locker room with the leaders we got I think he can get it. I mean Marchand has for the most pArt and he has likely reached his ceiling of being a 25-30 goal scorer give or take. Kane will score 40 in this league and would look some good riding shotgun with Bergy, learning from Looch and playing with his homeboy Iginla. |
