they just realized the nights Fuhr was on a coke binge they would have to score a few extra goals.

I remember as a kid when Fuhr was trying to make a comeback after the booger sugar, he was playing in the AHL and the fans were brutal to him. I was at a New Haven Nighthawks game and the fans were holding sandwich baggies full of flour and banging them against the glass, chanting "Grant takes it up the nose, do-da, do-da"

I didn't understand it back then because I was a kid, but it's something I've always remembered and I put 2-and-2 together when I was a little older. I heard an interview not too long ago where Fuhr was talking about his comeback and how brutal they were to him in New Haven. I think it was actually his first game back

"Given the epidemic of manpower losses the Bruins incurred the past month — injuries, illness and a suspension — there was a steady stream of players coming up from Providence. As of Friday, nine players had been called up at some point this season, six of them for their first NHL games.

Every one has stepped into the lineup, looked right at home and comfortable with Claude Julien’s system, and played well. It’s hard to believe that other NHL clubs haven’t noticed. It’s also hard to believe that teams looking for a head coach won’t put the 48-year-old Cassidy near the top of their lists.

Cassidy has been a successful NHL coach, leading the Washington Capitals to a 39-29-14 record in 2002-03. He was fired early the next season, his team off to an 8-16-1 start. There were reports of friction between Cassidy — who is known for being honest and outspoken, sometimes to his own detriment — and veteran players such as Jaromir Jagr, Olaf Kolzig, Brendan Witt and Dainius Zubrus.

But Cassidy, who was a highly talented defenseman (246 points in 165 OHL games, then just 36 NHL games before a knee injury set him back), is 10 years older and wiser and has proven he deserves another shot.

“He doesn’t get much credit, but he does a real good job,” said Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli. “He’s got a real good way about him. The players respect him. He’s not too overbearing. He’s quiet. But just look at the number of players who have come up here for the first time and scored or played well.”

@NHLBruins: B's sign defenseman Kevan Miller to a two-year, one-way contract through the 2015-16 season. Read full release: http://t.co/ot9FBvL5vy ^BB

Good deal if he stays up and continues to play well

i will assume that that takes care of any waiver issues if he needs to be sent down from a non emergency call up?

Pretty sure he still can't be sent down without waivers. And once his one-way contract kicks in, he'd also be exposed to waivers.

He's up to stay... Which makes me wonder about Bartkowski.

despite what some think, bart doesn't suck
but
krug and hamilton are better at what he does
miller brings the stuart, lone wolf part of the game more than bart does
i wouldn't be shocked if bart becomes a solid second pairing guy if he is moved

Bart's kind of like Ference with better wheels.

Miller is a good bottom pair signing. Contract also probably makes him a bit more attractive if they want to use him as trade bait. As it stands they probably want to keep him around as insurance though.

Better wheels but less physical. Bart is good and has the tools to be a valuable member to many teams around the league but as someone mentioned he sits behind both Hamilton and Krug in the skill sets that are considered his strengths, and well behind Miller and McQuaid in the physical department.

Tough decisions coming up especially with Kelly eventually rejoining the squad.

All signs seem to point to it. Likely for a second/third pair "thick" veteran Dman.
