larry throw poop against the wall brooks thinks the bruins should be in on callahan

my take, bruins don't need callahan
kelly is fine in that role

only reason the b's would do it is to get kelly's cap # off the books for the next 2 years while replacing him with someone who would be a step up, for the short term

it would be kelly and a prospect, probably morrow
that is all i am paying

you'd also be putting a lot of stock in the cyclops being able to win big faceoffs if they did it

Supposedly he's looking for 7 years at $6m+, that's the only thing that would scare me off. Otherwise think he's a great fit. Natural RW and RH shot that the team lacks. If you could lock him at 5x5.5M I'd do it (obviously depending on trade cost), but don't think that's likely. Could be an Iggy replacement if they don't re-up him or ask him to take a lesser role.

If this were last summer it would have been perfect timing but right now I can't see where he fits. If they traded for him it would likely be at Smith's expense in terms of ice time.

That being said a Marchand-Bergeron-Callahan line? whoa.

Tough to make the $ work, was thinking more Loui - Cyclops - Callahan, followed by Looch - Ute - Callahan 2014/15?

I'm speaking strictly as a rental, no (frank)ing way for next year
And, he goes on the 3rd line

Line #'s are horse poop on good teams, no matter what the #
Hell, many times Pavelski is sharks 3rd line center, it's a moot point..

I don't trade Morrow for a rental. Way too much upside. He's no Joe Colborne. That goes for Bart too, although Bart is somewhat "proven" at this point.

Prospects I'd trade for a rental (thrown in with a draft pick, obviously) in no particular order:

Koko
Warsofsky
Caron (lol)
Camara
Trotman
Fraser
Florek
Subban

I have no idea who you are referring to but it's common knowledge goaltenders generally take longer to develop their skill set to become everyday NHL starters.

I've made my opinion on Seguin abundantly clear. Phil priced himself out with Ute and Looch up for contracts at the same time.

I'm not saying Subban is a generational talent but it's a position we are suddenly lacking depth in compared to our F and D groups.

No, but I would if the price were right.

It's not like he's going to take Tuukka's spot. His prime will come long before Tuukka is gone.

Just don't see room for him in the long-term.

That may be but I wonder what his value will be with a few more seasons under his belt not to mention the type of return I would expect from a prospect of his caliber would cause cap complications unless it was prospects for prospects.

On the fence ...

I think he's getting butt(frank)ed in Providence right now by Cassidy for some reason ... Part of me wants to see him dealt and thrive elsewhere, but the Bruins fan in me wants him to stay because he's got so much upside, is extremely versitile, and already has NHL speed. Big-bodied Chris Kelly-type on steroids that can score and contribute offensively, and he's an ace in the shootout.

My question was aimed at JS because he follows the farm closely. I'm aware chia isn't afraid to dish off young talent for veteran help to win now.

I think if Subban is willing to do the time down there like Tuukka did it would be to his best benefit, hard to split time between Svedberg and Subban though, they both need the reps.

His value will no-doubt rise if he keeps on course ... He's come a long way this season already, whereas Svedberg's stock had dropped, IMO.

Not lobbying for his ticket out of town by any means (like I was with Colborne), but I just think it's inevitable ... And if the right deal presented itself sooner than later, I'd have to think Chiarelli would take a good hard look.

He's a good goalie with a lot of promise and a seemingly bright future ... I just don't think that future is with us unless he's comfortable spending a good chunk of his prime as Tuukka's backup.

Short-term plan (assuming nobody gets traded) would be to sign Svedberg to a 1-year, 1-way deal next season and let him take Johnson's role and see how he does. Give Subban the load in Providence. Revisit the next offseason and see where we stand.

When Tuukka was ready to make the leap from Providence, Thomas was a lot older than Tuukka will be when Subban is ready to do the same (assuming he stays on course). It will likely either lead to a healthy competition for a couple of years, followed by a ticket out of town for one of them.

I'd like to get to a point where we have Subban in the NHl making a mill or so and spelling Tukka 30 games a year. The same situation we had with Tuuka and Timmy a few years ago.
