Get Lu.
Mason is a back up goalie until proven otherwise. |

How close are Bryzgalov and Kovalchuk? Could that actually happen? My god that would be so odd. |

I pray it's not Luongo. He isn't the answer. - PLindbergh31
I wouldn't hate it if it was short term. No way I trade for that contract, no team should even pretend to consider that option. |

I just think the team will go big and the Luongo move would fit their MO. They could play it conservative. Sign a cheap backup, not really sign anyone big but just fill ins. If Homer is out of the playoffs again though, I say he gets axed, after the Bryz mulligan. - Hextall271
Homer will be gone if they miss the playoffs next year.
I agree with that. |

It's going to suck to be paying Bryz while he's shutting us out in NJ for the next 5 years. - shekkie
KHL likely, imo |

While Randy Miller was setting himself on fire on twitter, the most interesting thing he dropped was that Bryz loved playing for Dave Tippet...a defensive oriented coach.
The Devils do love them a defensive system, don't they.
That said, they probably wouldn't touch Bryz. |

If that's what he wants.
But if he wants to play in the NHL, he'll get offers.
Sorry, Flyers fans, but this is the Philly goalie being thrown under the bus.
Again. |

Yup, I think so. He's got some image rehab to do.
OTOH, he's got so much money now, he could realistically retire. |

Does anyone honestly think the situation with the next goalie is going to be any different? You have reporters that are just itching to manufacture drama. Nothing substantial write about? Anonymous sources!
I mean, the goalie is going to be seen as the problem regardless. This is a city that booed Bryzgalov after losing 1-0 in a shootout. Every goal is going to be soft. Every loss will be solely on the goalie. It's not going to be as bad as Bryz, but I don't see it improving a lot. |

Bryz buyout is largest in NHL history, more than Yashin.

This might not stand once all buyouts are complete.... So we'll see...
It is friggin funny though. |

I'd definitely do that. |

I agree honestly but in that scenario there's no way for the "bite you in the ass for that move" stigma to pay us back. |

After seeing the parade of ex Flyers win the cup with other teams the last two years, i'd be shocked if this didn't happen. |

Er, I don't think it's quite that cut and dried, but it makes for a fun and easy narrative the further you get from Philadelphia. |
|

Let me see if I have this correct.
The buyout of Bryzgalov and Briere frees up about 12 million in cap space, in which roughly 40% has been spent on a +35 contract in Mark Streit.
Anyone who doesn't doubt if the people running this franchise have a plan, have to get their heads checked. |

I must say, though, Flyers fans should wear this as a badge of honour.
Your owner isn't afraid to throw giant gobs of money at a (perceived) problem to make it go away.
I pity the Islanders fan who tries to mock you on that point. |

The flyers said they wouldn't buy out bryz unless they had a plan b so I wonder what that is ?? |
