Oh yeah, it includes #8 + vanek for #5. We drafted Vanek at #5 and now, if the Sabres and other scouts are right, they would get a young, blue chip prospect to take his place as one of the Sabres top scorers. I would do it, but would darcy and would the Canes?

Yeah, i don't think it would happen. I could still see the Flyers trying to trade for Miller, though. The problem with that is, they would probably want to know for sure first that Miller would sign an extension, that is if he would even accept a trade to Philly.

NHL teams look at when the talent drops off and if there is a big drop off at 5 to the next level of talent, then I'd deal vanek to get the 5th pick. Vanek is here for 1 more year, or they maybe get top 6 forward, and a top 4 Dman. That's all well and good, but will those players be elite, like the #5 pick in this year's draft will be? Probably not.

If Vanek can't get the Sabres into the top 3, then why do you think it's crazy to use him to get to the top 5? The number of spots it moves them up? Spots mean nothing if there is not a huge drop off in talent from 1-3 to 4-5 but is when you get to pick #8.

My first choice all along has been MacKinnon but obviously that isn't going to happen but the guy I'm hoping slides to 4 or 5 and we move up to get is Drouin. If we can't get Drouin I'd like Nichushkin or Nurse.

never really noticed he changes titles and pics on the same blog so often.

and now he knows to bait the oiler fans for hits as we're desperate for something tangible to talk about seeing as we haven't made the playoffs in 6 years.
