Listen I don't love Miller but saying that Bernier is better is absurd.....Bernier has been the recipient of a great team and his upside is unknown....It is more likely that Bernier could be the next Roycroft or Toskala as opposed to the next Bryzgalov(Phoenix era)
Miller has been an above average goalie or a subpar team......The last year he had good defense was ironically the last year he was a Vezina winner... - sabresnumberonefan
No one saying Bernier is a better goalie. Better value. |

we have a solid goaltender that put up better numbers behind at the very least a comparably bad defence. all at half the price and we hope he's still getting better.
and goaltending is about our 5th biggest need. our tradeable assets will be going to much more pressing issues.

It's not that we don't want EDM to get Miller. It's that EDM doesn't need Miller and for some of the prices suggested here, I'd light EDM on fire if they dealt such assets for him.
BUF had the most SA/G. EDM had the 2nd most SA/G. Can't tell me Miller was peppered with too many shots people. Dubey faced .5 SA/G less and performed better this year. For those that will get pissy right now, not saying Dubey is better than Miller because he's not, but the separation at this point is not enough to deal assets let alone the huge assets some fans here expect (see: gagner+7th overall ) - TheNugeIsHuge
this. ender ender.
I personally would have to agree that at present, miller is the superior goalie. but that's not the point.
these trade suggestions because one team may not have the best player at a certain position, without first thinking about the myriad of factors that go into a deal are totally ridiculous. |

Not really.... Bernier is unknown. Miller has proven he can start 70 games if need be. If you want to win now you take Miller 1000 out of 1000 times over Bernier. Miller will get more than Bernier if traded |

Your goalie didnt put up better numbers. Your team played better in front of him on special teams. Your team had the 9th ranked PK, Buffalo was 26th. Your team had the 8th ranked PP. Buffalo was 29th. |

no.

EDM's SV% this year was 7th. Tied with VAN, DET, and TO. Starting goaltending is literally the least of EDM's worries - TheNugeIsHuge
You played in a conference without 7 of the top 10 scoring teams in the NHL and were worse than us......That's all I have to say.... |

Does PP have anything to do with goalie's play? |

A top ranked powerplay isnt going to be giving up 2 on 1s continuously like the 29th ranked powerplay did to Miller... so yes, it actually does matter. |

It doesn't matter because Miller will never agree to go to Edmonton so this argument is mute. - GilPerreault11
I agree with this 100%.
I'd bet my last dollar that Edmonton is one of Ryan's 8 teams on his no trade list. |

The top scoring comes from the sh*tty goaltending.
Quick, Rinne, Kipper, Bobrovsky(vezina winner), Niemi, Fasth, Schneider, Lehtonen all a lot harder to beat than Lindback, Bryzgalov, Theodore, current Brodeur, Pavelec, .905 Price, Ellis, and Fleury.
Does that make the top scorers in the west more impressive? Would Hall have been higher than 9th in scoring if he was in the east? Probably |

devan dubnyk - 2.57 GAA, 921 SV%
ryan miller - 2.81 GAA, 915 SV%
im not interested in wasting time debating who the better goalie is. I believe that miller at present has proven more, and thus must be.
but no matter how you look at it, dubnyk did in fact have better numbers last year |

Miller absolutely has good trade value, he is the best available option for goaltenders at the moment. His numbers aren't mediocre, he plays on a team that had IMO the worst defensive play in the league and faced significantly more shots on average than any other goalie in the league. He showed even this past season that he has the ability to steal games for a team that had no business being close.
For those worried about his cap hit, stop being dumb, we can and will take back up to half of his salary making Miller a bargain.
I'm not going to go all Garth saying ridiculous statements about getting absurd assets, but he really will get a good return if not simply because of the sheer number of teams looking for reliable goaltending. Only Miller and Luongo have that reliability and proven factor and are available.
Philly trolls go home, you are butthurt from being completely burned by Bryzgalov. If you don't want Miller fine, but you had best sign someone because you are completely F'ed for backstops.
Realistic landing places for Miller I see are Islanders, Capitals, or Oilers.
Edmonton fans I seriously don't understand why you wouldn't want Miller, a solid goaltender and a D-man would put your team over the top. Not speculating what we would get back, just saying. - rsj2588
I think this is a very realistic analyzation of the situation. All very good and true points. Although I do think Miller to STL would be a very real possibility.
Also Avs had the worst D in the league last year lmao. Hunwick and Zannon no thank you! |

Sorry guys, that was just really funny.
Oshie & a first rounder. For Miller? 6+M for one year, and you want Oshie AND a 1st?
Or better yet, Tarasenko????
How do you guys put up with this guy????? |

Is this thread a joke?
St. Louis does not need a goalie.
St. Louis is not trading Oshie.
Miller would not get Oshie in return.
Garth loves page hits. |
