I'd take Gardiner. He played excellently in this years playoffs.
Ganger is a small center who is bad at faceoffs who will also be payed around 4.5 mil which is too many negatives for me to go for.
As far as scoring points, well on the oilers he should be doing that. - Meeqsb
gagner was just 16th in C scoring. You can't tell me because he's short he doesn't deserve in the neighbourhood of 5M |

No way you get Oshie AND a first for Miller. No way no how. Tarasenko is untouchable because he's cost controlled and showed early on that he can light it up. Value wise, i think the rumored trade of Halak and Russell is something closer to what you might get value wise based on Miller's play. Halak has been solid for the Blues when healthy, and Russell can be a 2nd pair guy that just got lost in the Blues d-man depth.
Outside of that, not sure what else you could get. MAYBE something like Sobotka and a goalie. No way the Blues deal a forward for Miller without the package also including Halak or Elliott. And no way do they deal NEXT years first for Miller. Blues have a goalie surplus. They MAY buy out Elliott, but i'd think he'd have at least some value after his past 2 years. They also have Jake Allen, and if Miller is coming here, Halak and Elliott go IMO. - jpl0219
I would love to get Cole from the Blues. Sgarbossa and a 3rd? |

Good luck getting an elite player by trading him in another deal. Maybe you get a trade like Pominville'. A 3rd string goalie who might be a solid backup, a 3rd line center, a 1st round pick, nice spot at 16 and maybe another 2nd round pick. The sabres are going to be rock solid on their 3rd and 4th lines, like Darcy is good at doing, but Stanley Cup winners are led by elite players, not nice players. - GilPerreault11
There is no guarantee with any of these guys. Chances are Vanek is and will always be better than Drouin/Nichuskin/ Barkov. Should we look at the top 10 of every draft and point out the busts? |

Vanek might get you a 23-30 1st round pick. Yippee!! No, he has 1 year left on his current contract but the top 5 in this draft are strong. See ya 30 goal scorer in bunches, I'd make that deal and not regret it. |

st louis' goaltending was insane last year. at one point unbeatable at one point couldnt stop squat. wouldnt be surprised if they tried to trade for a goalie - robz228
Had something to do with Halak getting injured. With him, Elliott, and Allen....the only way they trade for a goalie is if Halak goes the other way.
Don't see it happening.
And certainly, not bringing in Miller with those 3 already there.
This has to be the stupidest trade proposition put into a thread title in the last calendar year. |

what'd it take for EDM to pry away Sobotka? That guy is great. - TheNugeIsHuge
Eberle!
Just joking......but it would be really tough to get Sobotka from the Blues. |

Yeah, you are correct.......and I think it's safe to say that the Blues aren't totally satisfied with the Halak/Elliott combo. Trading for Miller is definitely a possibility......but Garth is smoking crack with his suggestions! - GSimp1
In my opinion Miller to the Blues are my best odds. |

It is more than just your defensemen. Our forwards were brutal defensively. Cody Hodgson our number 1 center was the 10th worst defensive forward in the NHL, Tyler Ennis was ranked our best defensive forward after the analysis was done, thats a joke in itself. I watched a good 10 EDM games this year, you guys fail in comparison as far as defensive lapses. - OneKaneOneCup
Hall-Nuge thrive in all ends, but Yak-MPS-Gags-Hemsky-Belanger-Jones all terrible in EDM's end for most of the season. Yak started to play a lot better towards the end tough |

but the bottom 6 isn't NHL quality. EDM dominates games when Hall-Nuge-Eberle are on, but when they're off it's a slaughter. EDM had the 5th least SF/G so the offense didn't help with no backend - TheNugeIsHuge

Lmao it is quite the argument too! Each team is such a strong contender lol. Edm might have the edge though now that I think of it.
I will say Zanon is the worst Dman I have ever seen and it is insane that Hunwick ended the year with the most ice time on the team. It's was the avs secret recipe for Mckinnon lmao.
As far as miller, buffalo will get a good return for him for a team trying to win in the next few years. However for what, hell if I know. - Meeqsb
good post.
forgetting potential and age etc.
in terms of talent on the backend in 2013 of these three abysmal defences.
id say;
buffalo
Edmonton
Colorado
I think edm and colo are very close though, with buffalo a solid step ahead of both. their problem was more up front imo.
not to say our bottom 6 forwards arent absolutely terrible as well though! |

Size is a huge deal in the NHL and so is FO%. If I am building a team and one of my top 6 centers and he doesn't score at least 65pts consistently I don't even bother.
Center is the most important position in the league and you just won't win with guys like Ganger.
He did have an excellent season for the oilers last year and I am not sure how his 2 way play is but thats my opinion of the matter. |

Sometimes you have to take chances and a top 5 pick is less of a gamble than 220 + other draft picks that day, so I'd like the Sabres chances of hitting it big.
Like I mentioned would Vanek and the 8th get the Sabres in the top 3? No, so why is it a big overpayment if they get to #5 in a strong draft? |

Fans are frustrated with him.......had a good season, but he looks awesome at times, and invisible at other times. But the Blues need a center, so hard to imagine they would trade Bergy unless they got a really nice return (and probably a center). |

Colorado definitely has the worst D of the 3. The way they've been coached has prevented it from being a huge problem in the past. Erik Johnson had like 4 points this year. I don't even know who they're #2 was they're all no names.
They should take Seth Jones. Jones, Barrie, Elliott'd help solidify that weak blue |

find me 5 teams with a 2nd line centre that puts up 65P.
Also Gags was on pace for 65 this year. |

EDM hasn't been coached right to use their speed defensively. Evidence of their 32.8 SA/G.
I sure hope Eakins is the real deal and fixes this |

He is a massive fan favorite and a total "heart and soul" guy that plays about twice his size. The fact that you picked him out tells me you can assess talent better than Paul Holmgren! Wait......that was meant to be a compliment! |

Good trade. Have to be a mid-level prospect and Colorado would have to admit defeat w/ Varlamov.
Why not just send Varly back in lieu of the prospect? |
