Miller plays on a bad team that turns the puckover all the time in his own zone... Put him on any playoff team and he is a huge difference maker... - Dkosgood
this guys gets it...
Buffalo just has not put a good team in front of him... plain and simple.. and when he did have a good team in front of him.. is the last time we won series in the playoffs. |

Guys at the trade deadline get massive overpayments for 14 games and hopeful playoffs..
I am pretty sure that Miller is not just gonna fetch a 2nd rounder..
Buffalo hasn't been able to put a solid defense or whole team in front of him in years. The last time we had a solid team in front of him we were 1 game from the SCF's until we lost 3 top D-Men.
You put Miller on a contending team right now and I guarantee he carries them to at least the second round of the playoffs.
My guess is either a pick in the 11-18 range plus a low roster player or a high but not top prospect...
or a 1st in the 18-25 range plus a top prospect. - JVince11
oooh you mean if we over pay for an aging, headcase goalie we can make it all the way to the 2nd round of the playoffs, rarified air. my guess is he gets bought out or stays |

No way Luongo finishes the end of that deal. And using both compliance buyouts already, be prepared to see a cap recapture penalty in the future. |

What he said is so stupid. GMs don't want goalies that make lots of saves, just ones that let in few goals.

Miller will not be bought out.. that is a joke...
I meant you can guarantee yourself at least one series win... but Miller cannot score goals too. Stop trying to be a troll and just have a normal conversation would ya? |

"Miller for the treasure trove of talented players and high-value draft picks that picks that he will receive in return for trading Miller now."
What? Bernier just got traded for next to nothing. Based on that, getting a third and viable backup is the worth. If really trading him , at this point if someone offers a first run with it. Darcy will get maximum value or nothing.
You won't get equal value for Miller unless Philly is in the mix. Philly is key if want to get that "treasure cove". He probably won't go to Edmonton although would fit nicely.
Bernier has to be worth more at this point based on skillset, age and contract.
Vanek should be untouchable, big heart to go along with big skill. Poor guy has had to reinvent his game to play with bunch of losers and still manages to put out 110%. No can deflect a shot like this dude.
Quick all non sabre fans ,name a no 1 Sabre line w Vanek that you feared.
Probably haven't feared a Sabres line since LaFontaine/Mogilny/rotating scrub
Get him some legit linemates. Imagine Vanek w Getzlaf/Perry or moving to right and playing w Thornton/Marleau... Damn
FYI Pommers is garbage, taking one timers from all angles sometimes leads to rushes the other way.
Thanks Minnesota! |

Miller wont get bought out. Garth is putting him way up on the pedastle but he is probably the best available option for a team who feels their hand is forced. Better than Lou, better than Mike Smith and all the other comparable players are being snatched up |

Garth, you are clearly overvaluing Miller. How many very good seasons has he had in his career to warrant another team trading great assets for him? His career as been average with a couple very good seasons in between, but nothing special. |

Yes, and the Sabres who have plenty of cap room and an owner with deep pockets can retain up to half of Miller's contract. Making him very affordable at 3.125. |

I got banned for saying I'm a glass half full type of guy. True story |

ok, that would fall on vancouver - flyerscup2011
It would fall on both teams since technically both teams benefited from the contract. Vancouver would receive the larger penalty, but whatever team picks him up via trade would also receive a penalty. Capgeek has a calculator. Go use it.

Without even reading through this.... you need to take in to account that Bernier is a unproven goalie in the NHL.. sure he has been good for LA in spot duty, back to back game duty, and whatever easy home games they have to give Quick a break. But I guarantee you that a proven solid goalie like Miller is in higher regard than Bernier.
Bernier also was traded during an RFA year... Toronto still has to sign him to a deal. That means they are going to give a guy who has never started more than probably 25 games in a season 3-4M a year. That is just as risky as taking on a goalie with one year left on his contract and hoping to resign him IMO.

OK that makes more sense. Yeah, sorry I misread your comment and thought you were happy at the possibility to get him. But that makes sense. Personally I think Miller is a very good goalie, but I understand why you wouldn't want to give up assets for 1 year of a maybe good goalie. |

well strictly as a flyers fan (a very cap strapped team) i see no reason to shed bryz's cap hit for miller's. also i have no desire to give up valuable assets for miller, who i see as a slightly above average starting nhl goalie. |
