They are definitely being shopped. Whether they trade them or not is another story, you don't think Darcy is worried about them walking for nothing during a rebuild? What if Vanek gets hurt and we cant move him at the deadline? - OneKaneOneCup
Interesting thought, that is a very important factor.

That is the only reason Miller to Phoenix makes sense IMO.
They need the "Big Name" acquisition to draw in the fans. - dadeadhead
I was talking about that to some people earlier, basically, someone would acquire Ryan Miller as a "Drew Bledsoe" type scenario (except the Sabres didn't have a hall-of-fame backup that took them to the promised land). I was told unanimously that Miller wasn't a big enough name for that.
Why would St-Louis ever trade Oshie? He's their most complete player and Elliott/Halak is one of the best 1-2 punches in the NHL. This would make no sense. St-Louis is already one of the best teams moving forward in the NHL. They don't really need to make any huge moves. Maybe a depth guy at the trade deadline for a late pick or something....that's about it.

Definitely? Who's source? Garth? The guy no one trusts? Ek? the guy no one trusts? Your twitter feed?
I can play this game!
What if Vanek scores 30 goals before the trade deadline?
What if Miller has 10 shutouts before Thanksgiving?
What if Darcy does the smart thing and wait for the sellers market at the trade deadline?
I think it's down to Philly and CBJ pending Bobrovsky's decision.
EDM and STL I don't think we could work a fair deal with and as you said Phoneix only makes sense if they want a big name acquisition. - Sabresfan-365
It also makes sense if they want a solid goalie, lets face it, Miller is the best available goalie. It is a no brainer for Phoenix with the name recognition and skillset.

IF both are being actively shopped (which I doubt) answer me this?
Why would any team trade for Miller or Vanek at the draft when they know they could get them afterwards? Why waste a valuable 1st round pick in a so called 'deep draft'.
The asking price of both go WAY down after the draft because valuable trade pieces have just been used. After the draft your left with settling for other teams players with 1 year left on them or under performing roll players. - RynoBull
There are 29 other teams in the league. If a few teams want Vanek, then they have to outbid each other and that bid might force them to deal on or before the draft with a 1st round pick. That 1st round pick would be in the 20's. And who says the sabres willl only deal vanek for a 1st round pick in the package? There are just a lot of deals done at the draft, it might happen before, or during the draft but it better happen sometime in the summer so the Sabres get the best return.

That's only if they aren't moved during or before the draft. If they aren't moved I think Miller gets moved out before the season especially if there happens to be a team needing a goalie. Maybe Colorado perhaps or the Yotes. Vanek would be here until the deadline IMO
