Garth, you are clearly overvaluing Miller. How many very good seasons has he had in his career to warrant another team trading great assets for him? His career as been average with a couple very good seasons in between, but nothing special.

Sorry, for some reason, I see a distinction between streaky and inconsistent. Drew Stafford is both. He's streaky, scoring in bunches. And, he's inconsistent, with vastly different production year to year. Vanek has had one down goal scoring season, and has otherwise been right around .42 g/gm every year. I think he's streaky, but he produces every year.

It would fall on both teams since technically both teams benefited from the contract. Vancouver would receive the larger penalty, but whatever team picks him up via trade would also receive a penalty. Capgeek has a calculator. Go use it.

well strictly as a flyers fan (a very cap strapped team) i see no reason to shed bryz's cap hit for miller's. also i have no desire to give up valuable assets for miller, who i see as a slightly above average starting nhl goalie.

OK that makes more sense. Yeah, sorry I misread your comment and thought you were happy at the possibility to get him. But that makes sense. Personally I think Miller is a very good goalie, but I understand why you wouldn't want to give up assets for 1 year of a maybe good goalie.

As an Oilers fan I am echoing what you are saying 100%, Garth has already traded us Miller 10 times in the last 2 weeks

if the $abres dont use some of brewster's millions to secure the best possible deal and retain $$ or bring back a big contract to buy out it will be short sighted in my opinion.

how am i trolling? i never even said Miller wasn't good! i just said that he doesn't have a lot of trade value, and i pointed out the reasons: age, contract status, mediocre numbers.

If a 1st round pick in this years draft + a top 6 F + a top 4 D + a top prospect are what you think you will get in return for Miller then why would you even include Philly on that list. I know you will be lucky to get half that for him but do you really think Philly can give up all that your nuts they need help on D and their forwards didn't produce anywhere close to the level they had expected this year. Is Calgary not in a rebuild ? why would they offer everything they just got for a aging goalie? come on man !

That's fine. I think he's going to Washington anyway. They love him here (I live here now) and I think a deal almost happened at the deadline. Some local guys thought it was a done deal as well. I expect it to happen.
