The 2013 picks are a premium, you want a 1st for Vanek or Miller?
2014 and/or 2015 is where you will get it. |

The big mistake the Sabres will make is not trading Vanek if he is not going to resign and they lose him for nothing, like they did with Briere and Drury. You don't build strong teams without obtaining eite talent. Sometimes teams just haveto hit rock bottom to start to build themselves up stronger. I'm sick of mediocrity and just winning enough to draft 10-13 every friggen year and get nowhere. - GilPerreault11
True...
We trade these guys and we will draft in the top3 of the next two drafts
Should be able to get some pretty freaking good players in those spots! |

Is there a ++ on the Islanders side or is this straight up?
Straight up that deal blows monkey Richard as Darcy turned down a Staff for Okposo deal this past deadline. |

If Briere is signed, put him at center with Leino and Foligno on his wings. Closest thing the Sabres can make to compare to Leino-Briere-Hartnell when Ville was on his game in Philly.... |

Briere has been playing RW.
Leino/Hodgson/Briere would be fun to watch. |

Maybe with Miller,
But only bc there are less options with him bc not everyone needs a goalie
What team couldn't use one of the top 10 goal scorers in the league since the last lockout? There will def be a bidding war for Vanek
He's the best player available,
And if he signs an extension as part of the trade, he's more valuable than everyone outside the top few picks who teams HOPE will turn into Vanek
(credit to whoever wrote that earlier, but it's a good point) |

No thanks
I'd rather have 1st round picks than young players that have been disappointing
Neither should've been picked that high to begin with
They also have othe prospects I'd much rather go after |

Bobby Ryan. - dadeadhead
I don't think he's available
I know the rumors, but I just don't buy it
The Ducks have him for two more years at a good cap #
If they trade him, I think it'll be next offseason unless a team REALLY overpays
And even if he is...
There's still at least 20 other teams that could use Vanek |

That's the way I'm looking at it. Even if they would would want to resign, I think I'd want them to still be traded. By the time the Sabres are contenders again they will be on the down turn of their careers and won't be worth what they are now. They are assets that need to be traded for younger talent in my opinion. |

Come the deadline his cap hit will be minimal.
See Pittsburgh this year adding 4.2, 7, and 2.5 mil. - dadeadhead
not to mention we can keep half of his hit. |

I think Buffalo and Calgary are the two teams that have to pull the pin and start from scratch. Get as young as you can, accept that you will lose for half a decade and try and snag MacDavid in a few years...they have way too many holes to fill with one pick or trade. Trying to rush just to make the playoffs, only to get oustedin the first round isn't going to get you anywhere. |

He'll have even more options though as long as he doesn't demand a high salary |

wants to stay close to Philly.
Detroit is my outside favorite.
Pittsburgh is where IMO he can have the most success. Imagine he and Malkin on a line? |

As a Ducks fanatic, I do really like Ryan, but with the kids coming up on forward, trading Bobby for an equally good defenceman would help the team huge. |
