I understand this but the hot news is Bryz.....does that mean Philly is using both its buyouts? Only Bryz is getting talked about.

depends what the assets are...the conversation Darcy has with his agent...as you already know Phaneuf personally I guess no point in talking to his agent about an extension.
- toddkac

I don't know him personally
You don't have to be condescending though

Why do u think a player like Phaneuf would want to extend here if we are rebuilding?
Makes a lot more sense to me that he'd wanna go to free agency and have his pick from many teams that are actually going to be in the playoffs

Again,
What makes u think he'd want to stay here?

because players have never in the history of pro sports gone to a terrible team because they offered him boats of money

Holmgrem has made public statements to the media already that they will buy both players out...

Pegula bucks....I am not condescending, you are the one already making up Phaneuf's mind but yet ask for a discussion.

Buffalo I would hope is looking for Mentor's for there young players....I think Phaneuf would(I hope) help Myers add some toughness and mentor him.

Phaneuf has played for Toronto and Calgary, seems to me he has no problems with losers. That being said maybe they should bring in someon who has won a cup.

He'd get offers from better teams wouldn't he?
We offered "boats of $$$" to Richards, Suter, Parise, etc....
Are any of them playing here now?

So why would Phaneuf want to be here when there are better situations out there?

Congrats. Shawn Bradley was 7' 6" 260, and this kid would mop the floor with him. Why this is not an overreaction is simple... Large, highly trained, muscle bound professional athletes cant be going to clubs, blasting people in the head, knocking them out, placing them in a hospital in critical condition, without having to answer to it.
- JAT27

He should answer for it. It's just not attempted murder. And if you think the guy who got blasted wasn't responsible for what happened to him in any way you're being naive.

Other teams will offer $$$
Idk why u guys think free agents of that stature will sign here when they repeatedly keep turning us down?
Makes no sense
And Phaneuf as a mentor?
No thanks

Keep Vanek...

Trade Ennis and Ott for Ryan and a 2nd rounder. Gotta pay to get the biggest dog in the yard.. besides Ott got a 1st round offer at the deadline and Darcy turned it down. Not to mention that Ott is a 1 year deal guy and I doubt he resigns for a loser team right now to spend his 30 years.

Trade Miller and a 2nd for Halak and Stewart. They might have to throw in a mid prospect to even things out.

Trade Stafford for Burmi.

Draft Lindholm or Nichuskin at 8

Pair a 2nd rounder with 16 to move up to 10-12 range and draft Nurse/Risto/Zadorov/Shinkaruk.

Let Hackett season in the AHL for a season while Halak is a 1 year deal just like Miller is.

Resign Pardy or sign UFA Ryan O'Bryne

Vanek - Hodge - Ryan
Armia/Nichuskin - Grigo - Stewart
Foligno - Burmi - Leino
Tropp - Porter - Kaleta
Scott

Ehrhoff - Pysyk
Myers - McNabb/O'Bryne
Weber - Sekera
Ruhwedel/Pardy

Halak (40-50 starts)
Enroth (28-37 starts)

This will allow Enroth to get more in tune to playing more than just spot duty for Miller... this will allow us to get a feel for if he can handle the workload of it he goes into another downward spiral.

Girgensons and Larsson can play together in the A.

Lindholm/Nichuskin/Armia one would make the roster and the other would spend a season in the AHL seasoning. Lindholm would be overseas for another season any way.

I personally love it.

Yep
Only ONE year away
If we are talking about trading Miller & Vanek bc they only have 1 year left on their deals...
Why bring someone in with only one year left on his deal

It's unlikely (at best) that anyone of that stature would sign here
I don't need inside info to back up that opinion,
History backs it up

Take your pick....

Vanek to the caps "ALMOST DONE"

Briere to return

Miller to Philly

Ryan to Buffalo

- JVince11

I could see that happening........Darcy will probably make him the best offer...esp if we trade Miller and Vanek. We will have a ton of cap space, and we all know that they threw all that $$$ at Doan, Sutter, and Parise

Could see him do the same for Danny, and I bet he bites because he will get alot of low ball offers.

IMO he takes a shot at a cup 2yr deal less than 3 mil per with Pittsburgh.

I was thinking the same thing..

I bet he gets like a 1.5M per year deal from a few contenders like Detroit or Pitt...

But I bet that Buffalo would give him 3-4M per season for 2-3 years. he knows Buffalo.. he likes Buffalo.. his kids are near.. and I really think that Briere would be our captain for a few years until Girgensons or Foligno are ready.

Probably. Some day these guys need to start realizing that hittin up clubs and "scrip joints" isn't beneficial.

U do realize that NO high profile guys sign here?
Pretending one MIGHT is kinda silly

Hey, I'd love it if we could get guys like that
But until we start winning consistently,
You have to admit, it's pretty unlikely
Don't ya think?

When did Phaneuf become a high profile guy?

Leino was the second most coveted forward next to Richards....just saying
