So the fact Steve Mason is the starting goaltender as of right now, something I have no control over, makes my opinion powerless? Makes sense. - broadstreet11
yup... that is completely true...
you mind as well just not comment in a Sabres blog... |

So apparently players have to go on un conditional waivers before they can be bought out. Are other teams allowed to make a waiver claim? I don't suspect too many players would be claimed but I'm guessing someone would seriously consider Brad Richards if they did indeed plan on buying him out. |

Nobody will pick up a guy who was unable to perform on that talent laden team at that obscene contract. |

I would agree...
Briere's contract is only another 2 years which might not be horrible for a team like Florida or PHX to make it to the cap floor...
but guys like Lecavalier, Bryz, Luongo, Hossa, DP, etc type deals that go until they are 45.... no one will claim them. |

66 points in 82 games and then 34 points in 46 games this year.
Yes he obviously has not lived up to the obscene money that he got...but that's just it, his bonus has already been paid. The team that claims him gets Brad Richards minus the huge signing bonus he got to begin with.
Even though his cap hit is meh, I still think he'd have plenty of interest especially if he were put on waivers where a team could have him for no cost.

He's signed for like 6-7 more year's though, right?
I think he's 33 now
That might make teams leery |

Trade Miller and a 2nd for Halak and Stewart. They might have to throw in a mid prospect to even things out.
- JVince11
Not even close. Teams don't trade their leading goal scorer for an aging one year rental goalie. |

I'm just gonna lay off the trade chatter until an actual trade happens... or the draft comes. |

Beats those 10 and 8 mil signing bonus'
I agree, the contract is a tough one but I could definitely see a team like the leafs putting a claim in if it gets to that. |

Sad thing is that I used to enjoy coming on here back in the day to see if something went down. Now I know immediately because of text updates.
Can you imagine 20 years ago - you actually had to wait for news. |

I think his age should be the least of everyones concern. All throughout the summer he was a FA everyone always talked about what incredible shape he's in and how he's a fitness/health nut (wow we should pair him with Myers for an off season). I really think he could play into his late thirties. |

I didn't even think of that
Sure seemed like Regher wasn't too happy here
He looked pretty average,
But for LA in the playoffs I thought he was pretty good
Good enough to be on the top pair w doughty - jdfitz77
Regher did not want to leave. His family liked it here. He had to be convinced to waive his NMC. It worked out to be a good move for him in the end and he got a contract extension.

I think it would be stupid.. if you want to overpay for him wait a few days and then do it on a shorter term.. hell give him 6 mil a year for 3 years it will be better than his contract in the long run.. |

No guarantee you end up getting him. He probably already has his mind set to where he'll go if he's bought out. It's just a suggestion and I'm willing to bet at least one other franchise would consider it. |

Richards blows. Not a number 1 anymore and is just gonna keep regressing with age. Shouldn't even be considered |

Agree, it makes no sense but he wanted to stay and "float" like the rest of the team. In LA he has to work.
