What's your take on the whole center situation? MacT gives Gagner a vote of confidence in more then one way, but really wants a center at #7. I have no issue with center depth, but just seems like he isn't fully behind the two current guys.

I think MacT just wants to take a lot of high skill players in the draft and get a lot of his characteristic muckers through free agency. Why take a guy who can't put the puck in the net with a draft pick when you can just sign him later?

I think maybe he's looking at the way the two guys project and wants another kind of flavour. Both Gagner and Nuge are pretty cerebral players and I think he wants to see if he can nab a more instinctive Dave Bolland type.

Looking at what Nuge and Gagner project to be, do we win a cup with Pavel Datsyuk-lite and Stephen Weiss as our top 6 Cs? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe he thinks Gagner's trade value can still go up so why not keep him while we see what Monahan/Lindholm become?

I like Bogo alot too, but I wouldn't go higher this year than Marincin and our 2nd, maybe another prospect on the low end.
Why wouldn't Winnepeg be interested in Hemmer (besides the obvious of course).They are weak offensively and he adds another weopon.

I dont care if they are upcoming UFAs- simply offer less... but for this season we need to definitely add some dman or dmen with NHL experience.. Ideally- when you reflect Calgary let go of alot of physical dmen that we could use here now...

Phaneuf isnt the smartest player but he ends up looking a lot worse when he has to carry someone like Kotska or Holzer for half the season.
