Honestly with how much (over)thinking Gagner, Nuge, Eberle, Hemsky, and Petry do, we could use an idiot with a "me take puck, me get puck deep. If in zone, me shoot" mentality
- Morris

Ya I know what you mean....but I'm not sure if you ever played hockey at a decent level (doing my best to not sound like an A-hole here), but these types of players are HORRIBLE to play with. Sometimes they put up decent numbers but it doesn't matter, it's just bad for the whole team.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.....

Phaneuf isnt the smartest player but he ends up looking a lot worse when he has to carry someone like Kotska or Holzer for half the season.
- Jack-artist

It's not really that Phaneuf is all that dumb, his eyes just get wide easily in terms of delivering hits and taking shots. He's pure NHL 13 in the way he plays

But what a coincidence! This team needs to get more pucks on the net and to deliver more huge hits, so it goes to show we don't need the most methodical player to succeed.

No I never played that high a level of hockey, and I can see how it would be frustrating not to be able to depend on a guy like that. The point is moot because Toronto actually loves Phaneuf and would charge a #1 dman price for him.

Actually I can't believe I left the king of this (Justin Schultz) off the list.

Obviously he wouldn't be available but the Oilers need a guys like Sharp......hmmm let me think who else would be similar.

And this is the biggest reason it won't happen.

Sharp is awesome, and every team in the league could use him...but don't you think simple upgrades through free agency should be the ticket this year? I don't think we have the volume of NHL players to make any trades right now, sadly.
1 year from now is the time Mac T should look at trading some good pieces.

Why not add ference and regehr too.
- Redmile247

I'd take Ference, Regehr is under contract in LA though

Other than Giordano, which defenseman on your team is actually better than Ference?
- TomKlassen

HEY CLOUTHIER, YA I'M TALKING TO YOU!!!!!

Do you wanna write a guest blog on the Flames since Colin will be away this weekend during the draft?

But you have to be serious and non-biased. Just give us something to talk about would ya?

Gregor just posted his interview

MacTavish: I have not had a team inquire about him. I’ve had Linus’ agent ask me if I’d be willing to move his rights and I would be. Again, he’s had a good year in Europe, playing in Zug I think, and so far no one has called. We’d be happy to get involved in a discussion with Linus, about Linus.

I'd actually argue ference is better defensively then wideman and Shultz
But they are offensive d men

Overall I don't think it's very close, defensively maybe it's close. I think Wideman is a good overall player, I think he is more than capable in his own end.

Overall no it's not but wideman is known for not being the best defensively
He had a lot of suspect blunders last year and there was a reason he was demoted in the playoffs last ... But he is a puck moving pp d man so u give and get
Shultz is the same ilk as wideman but has more offensive upside and may learn to be better defensively

I can't see how, maybe OKC signs one of them to AHL deal. Even that seems to be a stretch.
