To save money, the Flyers have traded Steve Mason for a 2nd Rd Pick.
Homer has agreed to go all season without a goalie. 3 forwards and 3 dmen on the ice each shift. |

That's good stuff. I'd be ecstatic if Monahan dropped to the Flyers. No way in the world that he should get past the Devils at worst - Jsaquella
It's interesting how Lindholm's passed him in the consensus rankings... |

It's true. Love her message. Love the way she thinks. Hate the way she writes dialogue. - Flyersgod
I prefer the Neil Peart condensed version on 2112. He gets her ideas across in a 18 minute song, rather than a badly written 1000 page book! |

I'm working on it...unfortunately it's a draft blog. - Jsaquella
Use your powers wisely, and only for good, and make Homer pick Ristolainen!
Or Alex Forsberg Richards Clarke. That guy seems promising.
Then get to work on your trade blog and make things happen. |

I was most surprised at Lindholm being 5th and Morin jumping to 15 on McKenzie's ranking. |

The trade blog may trump the draft one. Or it might be just a big one or two parter. Depends if they make a move prior to the draft |

No need for such extreme measures to save money.
According to Capgeek, the Flyers only have 4 hockey players under contract for the 2016-2017 season and one of them is Chris Pronger.
We got this. |

What would you guys give up for Anderson, Great contract and good term no need to take on Luongo type contract.

They could just taken Byfuglien and a couple of clones and stack them up along the goal line. |

Imagine how fun it would have been if they hadn't ended the season on a 4 game winning streak. I believe they went from 5th to 11th. |

I have a feeling either somebody incredible is going to drop into the Flyers' laps, or they're going to go completely off the board and the fans will be crying for blood. Either way, it's going to make for excellent entertainment. |

How the top 10 picks may go, barring trades:
1. COL Mackinnon C
2. FLA Jones D
3. TB Barkov C (I really think Yzerman, a former center, can't resist the 1-2 punch of
Stamkos and Barkov)
4. NAS Monahan C (Nashville with their limited budget can't risk screwing this up so
they make the safe pick with Barkov off the table)
5. CAR Drouin W/C
6. CAL Lindholm C
7. EDM Nichushkin W (Edmonton could really use a skill forward with size)
8. BUF Shinkaruk C/W (Buffalo needs offense, especially if they move Vanek)
9. NJD Domi C/W (Uncle Lou is always a tough read, but NJ needs scoring and I
think Domi is the best pure offensive talent left on the board)
10. DAL Nurse D
11. PHL ???
The Flyers will have some interesting choices here. Personally I would hope for Ristolainen or Pulock, but I can really see them trading down. For example, Columbus could really use a center and at this point would be most likely targeting Wennberg or Horvat. However both Phoenix (#12) and Winnipeg (#13) could also both use a center, so perhaps Columbus swaps the 14th and 27th pick for #11 and #41. I could then see the following:
11. CLM Wennberg C
12. PHX Horvat C
13. WPG Pulock D (with the top centers off the board, the Jets go for the
howitzer on the point)
14. PHL Ristolainen
Gonna be a fun weekend!!

I'm ok with 11, but you have a point.
Personally, I blame Mason. |

If they were selecting in the top 5 there would be plenty to be excited about because they would likely be getting a player NHL ready or very close.
At 11, while it's a deep draft, no guarantees that the player selected ever contributes at the NHL level. |

What if we just employ "Lavy's" simplfied system for the whole year? We have a balance of good young forwards and capable d-men. Fill the roster openings economically and let our guys get healty.
