I think my highest hopes are in one Brayden Schenn. I don't mean to compare him to Mike Richards but Richards was able to become an important player offensively by his third season. Mind you if you total all his NHL games up (110), he has played just under a season and half. I won't be disappointed is he doesn't begin taking over games this season. I will however expect big things from him next season. I think all eyes should be on him this season. I think he can start doing it now. - dingo8urbaby
If the Flyers do somehow manage to get a sniper on wing to play with G, then they will have a hell of a second line with Brayden Schenn and Jake V.
That is what dreams are made of. |

is this stud superstar Bobby Ryan or are you referring to someone else?
cause frankly I like Jake V better then Ryan. - Marc D
I'd much prefer vanek over ryan.
Problem is vanek is going to cost us a young kid. I do it if b schenn goes back. Will need to add Matt read. Prob still do it |

Just for fun, not sure if any cred. He did list the Tor LA trade before it happened.

I would need an asset coming back from Buffalo to even make this a little palatable.

A 1st in what year? 2027? Because that's the only way that deal works for this year, with them picking 11th, and next year, with the draft in Philadelphia, considering Miller only has one year left on his deal. |

Yup. That was the part that made me cringe.
Like I said earlier, something's got to come back the other way if Homer is considering this at all. |

It doesn't really seem logical to buy-out one above-average headcase goalie in order just to spend valuable assets just to bring in another, older, above-average headcase goalie. Doesn't make sense to me. |

I agree plus to me that is waaaaaay too much to be giving up for Miller
I get it that Read is the player that makes sense to trade but giving up Coburn and the 11th is too much without getting more back from Buffalo
Besides Ive never been a Miller fan for the reasons you mentioned |

I wouldn't trade anything for Miller . Cap hit way to high and hes a UFA at the end of the year |

I embrace risk as much as the next guy, maybe even more than most, so with Read being unrestricted next year, I'm not opposed to Coburn and Read for Miller.
But why would anybody give more than that? Coburn's 28 and a Top 4 defenseman. Read's a 20-goal winger, 27 years old. Why in the world would a 33-year-old goalie with a $6 million cap hit with one year left on his deal be worth more than that?
There are trades that are made today in the NHL that are like that rumor, and they make no sense to me. At some point, some of these GMs need to start looking at the sellers in the marketplace and say, "Look. You're the one who's rebuilding. This is a fair deal. Coburn's under contract for the next four years. Read and Miller are both unrestricted, so that's a wash. Miller's at the age where you simply do not know if he's going to be a difference-making goalie, if you do extend him."
"It's a fair deal. Take it, or we just run with Steve Mason and take our chances." |

Well, the cap risk is hedged a bit.
If the Flyers acquired Miller and didn't like him.....they just let him walk next year. Miller has every reason to have a good year this year, financially speaking.
I still think that rumor had waaay too much going in Buffalo's direction for a goalie they don't want anymore. |
