Am I demanding that Voracek be traded? Would you consider Crosby, Malkin, Iginla, Neal, Letang and Kunitz game breakers? Even if we scored more then the Pens, my argument is the way that they score. They get key goals at key times. On top of this Shero continues to keep adding. - dingo8urbaby
None of that addresses any of the points I made. What happened in the Series against Boston? Where were those key goals for Pittsburgh? And why didn't they score those key goals. Answering those questions, will explain why a top scoring Winger is way down on the list of Flyers needs.

The Flyers haven't had a number # 1 goalie since Hextall, they throw an enormous contract at Bryzgalov, he's paid 40 million dollars to play 97 games. He will be making 1.6 million dollars from the Flyers when he's a 45 year old man.
This on the heels of Bobrovsky winning a Vezina on a perennial League doormat.
Fans of other teams who think that is off the charts incompetence are clueless....
Got it. - PLindbergh31
If I may....
There's no way in hell that Bob puts numbers even in the same atmosphere as what he did in Columbus. The Jackets actually play a pretty effective but under the radar trap akin to the mid 90s Devils. |

How does Bryzgalov making 1.6M dollars when he's 45 affect me as a fan of the Flyers?

Boston is also a team that continues to add. Both teams went deep in the playoffs. |

How do you explain Mason's .899 save % and 2.95 GAA playing behind that same system you mention? |

Yea really I know this sounds bad but we should be happy that we have an owner that has the balls to pay someone that much to go away lol |

NHL.com expert final mocks have Flyers taking:
Pulock
Risto
Fucale (eww really)
Elsewhere, I keep seeing Morin at 11. I think that's a crazy, crazy, reach. Who do we have at 11, folks? Four days away. |

Exactly -- it baffles me how people think it's great to have players you KNOW you need feel like they're working in the salt mines before they can get a deal that reflects their value.
P.K. Subban wanted a long-term deal from the Canadiens last summer, would've taken something like 5 years, $25 million.
The Canadiens were like, "Nope. Bridge deal. That's all you get. Two years. Suck it up."
So he did. And won the Norris trophy. At a salary of $2.875 million. And he's coming up at the end of the year.
Anybody think he's coming in at 5 years, $25 million on that one? - AllInForFlyers
Exactly, pay me now or pay me later. Which is what Holmgren tries to avoid. Although the Flyers are in the same boat now with Giroux. It's a great deal for two years. A lot depends on what the player is willing to do also. Some top players aren't willing to sign those longer term deals that could see them underpaid in later years.

Move up to which pick? I can see Edmonton trading down, maybe Carolina but that's it. |

Third pairing doesn't mean a player is awful, he's strength is obviously not his defense but he has offensive skill. - FlyerLifer
Iif he's playing the second most minutes, I'd say he's not third pair. Third pair suggests that he's not an especially capable player, though.
I know he's not a good defensive player. He has to be used properly. But he fills a definite need and didn't cost any of the players the Flyers see as cornerstone pieces.
I'm not jumping for joy over Streit. It's a questionable contract for sure. But it can't be compared to Shattenkirk because they're different situations. |

You summed that up perfectly -- if you've got a good player who wants cost certainty, then give it to them so you can plan your cap.

Exactly, so for those that think that Holmgren paid too much for Simmonds. If he continues to improve down the road. That tune will change. He now has a solid young player that still has potential to grow, under control for 6 years.

23+ minutes - played on the PK also. I don't see him having to do as much of that here. They can give him 21+ "smart" minutes in Philly. And by they I mean Lavy. |

And the majority of those minutes need to be offensive zone starts. With the Giroux line as much as possible. And on the PP.

Absolutely. Far better than the "Flyers Suck, Holmgren's a moron, They're a laughingstock" bull poop we get sometimes.

Fits into the smart minutes. It also allows the other guys to ease back into their normal roles. Coburn can be the defensive defenseman role once again - one that is capable of bringing speed and puck-moving if needed. |

That's the byproduct. Other players can be put in a better role and position to succeed, more suitable to their strengths. I'm not under any illusions as to what Streit is. But he does bring a skill set to the Flyers lineup that they needed. They badly missed Carle.
