I corrected myself, I meant mostly assets/return not so much cap hit. - cmr.266
Neways bobby Ryan is on a different level then Horton imo |
|
|
|
To bring in Ryan you have to break up the young core which is not what the plan should be at this time, unless it's a young defenseman to add to the core. They aren't going to trade Ryan for Mez and 2 second rounders. - jstross
Who offered this trade? |

How do you address these other needs? I have already asked every question I can think of to solve what D problem we may have. Homer might not be able to fix it. He couldn't\didn't last year. - dingo8urbaby
Sure he fixed it. Gervais is a monster.
Don't waste your time Sir. The solution is to wait til the draft and free agency have concluded, and blindly endorse every transaction. |

But he has in the past. My concerns with the team are that they need to be a harder team to play against. They need to be much better as a team defensively. And they need to improve the mobility and puck skills of the defense. Adding a top scoring Winger would be great. But those other issues should be addressed first. If they are, and they can swing a deal for someone like Ryan. That's great. |

Ryan is better, certainly. But people overrate his overall game. I say let the core develop and bring in a Brian Bickle (if possible) who "truly" uses his size, will cost about $2M less, is a year younger, and let the core develop.
Or someone who will make comparable impact. Why trade three pieces for Ryan right now? |

Is pessimism and negativity a solution?

So pessimism and negativity is reality? How is this reality a solution to anything? |
|
|

It's too early for definative solutions. There are a bunch of buyouts, extensions.. that are still yet to happen. Patience. - jstross
Ithink management should be on this around the clock. I don't think anyone wants another failed offseason. Do you wanna be the GM of the Flyers that signs anything that remotely looks like Kurtis Foster? I would throw a shoe at you during that Press Conference. |

That's the point. What would you trade for Ryan, sorry if I missed your can't miss proposal. Are you willing to trade Couts, Read and a 1st? I'm not and that might not even get it done. |

Foster was brought in due to injuries.

This is the thing. There aren't gonna be number 1 Dmen bought out. There will be no UFAs. No drafted players ready to take on that role. |

only difference is the team that gets bickell will not immediately regret it
edit: i'd say he's closer to this year's joel ward |

You can bet they are, but a lot is going to shake out this weekend and then again I believe on the 5th. That's one reason I like the Streit signing. He gives the Flyers another asset without losing much as far as assets go. So
Timo-Mez-Streit-Gus
Schenn-Coburn-Grossman
That puts Gervais and Lauridsen at options 8 and 9.
No need for the Foster/Walker/Huskins. |
