Supposedly him AND Leddy
If Leddy is really available, I'd offer up next years first and Read for him. |

The rule is a simple rule, and it's easy to understand why it is there.
There are also pension issues and other issues involved. Not to mention that a player on LTIR still counts agains the players share. If he's bought out and paid in full, he would not count against the players share. Which the NHL will have a problem with. Money outside the system. - MJL
Could have been included in the amendment. Could have just said team can buy-out players salary cap hit, until he becomes compitent to play again. There were ways around it, they were just in too much of a rush to get the season started to work through it. |

I'm kind of surprised they're moving heaven and earth to try to re-sign Bickell... if anybody was on a Leino run, it was him. - Tomahawk

Had zero to do with being in a rush to work through it. It has to do with Cap issues and how the Cap works. I've explained it as best as I can. The rule makes perfect sense. |

Big overpayment. One or the other. Not both.

I'm sure this has been brought up before. But if we are thinking of trying to get Vinnie Lecavilier signed here, Signing Gagne and having him reach out to Vinnie would be very shrewd. I think he'd only sign for a year but I still think he's got some juice left. I always though B. Schenn should get moved to the wing anyway. |

Kunitz takes a Bigtime discount to stay with the pens. Say what you want but he's a steal on this new contract.
Like I said before. Anyone that thinks hartnell did the flyers any favor with the terms of his extension need only to look at this deal |

that's an overpayment - Leddy is good, but he hardly played so his value has dropped. |

There's a big age difference between the 2 players.
The Penguins are going to quickly see diminishing returns on Kunitz's contract. |

Hartnell's contract was cut in a different environment, under the previous CBA. I would think that makes a bit of difference. |

there are no state wage taxes in Fla, so that can figure in Vinny staying in Fla |

The Flyers have already seen diminishing returns and Hartnell's extension hasn't even kicked in yet.
Btw, Hartnell is now the highest paid Flyers forward.... not a single forward making over $4.75... really weird to see.

Chris Kunitz is three years older than Hartnell, who was coming off a 37-goal season. The reason Kunitz's deal looks like that is because he's going to be 34 years old at the start of next season. Are you kidding me?
If Chris Kunitz was 30 years old, like Hartnell was, do you honestly think he would've signed the same deal he signed with Pittsburgh today?
NO, he wouldn't have!
