Bryzgalov is now only the second biggest buyout in NHL history.

60 minutes in a hockey game, barring OT. 2 defenseman on the ice at a time. 6 total D men.
- MJL

It was more a reference to balance. The Flyers don't have a superstar defenseman so the best course of action is to have balance. Give Schenn, Timonen, Grossmann and Coburn the minutes against the best offensive players. Then give guys like Gus and Mez easier minutes. If Gus and Mez are both healthy, I wouldnt shy away from using them against anyone really.

I just don't think Gervais is good enough to be in the NHL. He was terrible last year. Even when he played limited minutes. In fact, he got better when he played more down the stretch.

He's the David Bell of this team.

Toronto is talking about moving Phaneuf

As Toronto needs help on their blue line (probably like 29 other NHL teams), I have no idea why they'd do this. Is his cap hit awful or something? I'm too lazy to look it up.

If the Flyers paid Gervais 4mil a year.....and took PEDs......and blocked the path of a younger, better player (Bell indirectly was responsible for the Phils trading Placido Polanco)..........THEN, he'd be the David Bell of this team.

I'd say he's more of a Kevin Stocker.

If they could ship Bruno Gervais out somehow, Homer has my vote of being GM of the year.

If the Flyers give Gervais the same amount of minutes as last year, he will be pushing David Bell for my least favorite player in philly sports history

I think they're good on the blue line, personally. With young guns like Gardiner and Rielly, they have 2 future top pairing dmen in the works. I think Phanuef will be traded for a large part because he's a horrible leader and an all around doucher. He fits like a glove for the penguins

Well we have a difference of opinion. I think Gervais is fine as a depth defenseman. Gervais was hurt and out injured down the stretch. All the defenseman looked better down the stretch. Wonder why that was? If Gervais is in the lineup, he should play about 12 minutes of ES time. With no special teams time.

When does this waiver time line end? I'm surprised that Kaberle, Komisarek and one of Grabovski or Liles haven't been handed their walking papers.

He'll be a UFA after this Season. I would think it would be to clear room to do something else.

See that right there is why he's not good, even as a depth guy. I'd so much rather have Huskins as our #7 than Gervais. Huskins is cheap, and can play decent minutes as a pretty good shut-down guy. Gervais can play only 12 minutes a game and still can't handle even the simplest of defensive assignments. Gervais is a #7 offensive defenseman. That by nature is just a bad player type to include in your lineup. I'd much rather have a guy that isn't a liability defensively as my #7.
