I know it sounds crazy, but they may have no choice some day I don't see them having balance paying 2 guys to be the franchise guy. - puckhead17

yeah, I'm shocked as well that they offered it, paying all that $$$ to the 2 headed monster they have at center - puckhead17
It's crazy.
Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Martin and Fleury = $32,400,000. Then think about adding Letang's proposed $7 million on top of that and you have 6 players earning just under $40 million of a $64 million cap. |

I wonder if they lose the way they do, because they are unbalanced, you look at the black hawks, not because they won, but all the hoopla over their speed, and several skill players up front, but it all starts with Keith & Seabrook, & without either one of them, they are not nearly as successful.
Crawford played well too. |

Pittsburgh has the talent but sometimes they get too offensive and forget to play in their own zone. |

Yeah, crazy, like the Rangers would have been if they didn't deal Gaborik,
Gaborik Nash Richards Lundqvist callahan would have been about $32 million but again, there's a little balance having a great goalie besides just scorers. |

I have to wonder if Pens offered that 8 years $56 million w/o a NTC because they were going to move him after signing him, they would get a much better package froma team knowing that trading for Letang that they had him forever |

Being under contract for 1 year and having every team in the league now know 56 mil aint good enough absolutely throws his trade value in the toilet. They will still get something good in return, but that number just scared 95% of the league off. |

They did the same thing with Jordan Staal and got a very solid return for him...I bet somebody does a trade and sign with Letang. |

I'm not saying that wont happen but now that teams know the price I think a lot of them have immediately lost interest. |

Staal did want to play with his brother, but the Hurricanes paid a premium price to land him-8th overall pick and Sutter. It's not as if the Penguins gave him away.
What I mean by same thing is, they leaked the contract details, and facilitated what was basically a sign and trade |

They wouldn't trade him here. But I wouldn't rule out Homer trying to get a team to land him only to immediately trade him here. That said, I think that's a highly unlikely scenario. Parts of his game I love, but there is a lot I simply cannot stand. |

The Pens would be asking the Flyers for a Weber-esque package.
Thanks but no thanks Ray.... |

Bobby Ryan for Kris Letang is doable deal. It just makes no sense for the Pens. It's hard enough for us to find a number 1 dman, why would Pitt give up their's for more offense, which leaves a huge hole on their blueline.

I hear you. But it looks like Shero is only going to.offer so much. If they do trade him Bobby Ryan plus from Anaheim is a good bet. Sid gets his winger... |

I think Paul Martin might get bought out. Could I be wrong? Sure. They just have a lot of guys to re-sign over the next 2 seasons and I feel Iglina has worked there and is one the older guys who is good one season and average the next. |
