Horton has a concussion history.... the Flyers don't generally have good luck when it comes to concussions. If they sign him, his skull would crack like an egg shell.

Not interested.

Me neither. Not a Horton fan. He's a similar player to Hartnell.

We have enough players who have had concussions.

Horton is a solid player but at $6M per that's too much.

- stveshdy

Agreed. I think he might get close to 6 million from someone.

Hopefully someone out West signs him. If the Bruins lose Horton and Ference that is significant

He's more of a natural scorer. He has a terrific shot. I don't think he's close to what he has allegedly asking for.

He does have a very hard accurate shot, with Holmgren's proclamation to "get bigger" he may be a potential target.

That top line of Horton-Krejci-Lucic carried them in the playoffs. I think they will be banking on Seguin and hamilton stepping up into bigger roles.

I just don't want to pay $6M for him. Especially because he has the aforementioned concussion issues.

Yep. That would be the plan I'm sure. Seguin has regressed some. Only 1 goal in 22 playoff games this year. He struggled.

A perfect example to why patience is needed when it comes to Couturier. Sure he regressed a little this year, but it is to be expected. Especially if you take into account the players he played with.

Very good player. $6M per year seems to be too much. Also looking for five-six years. That's not bad for a younger player but that's risky for a player with concussion history.

Even if he had a clean injury slate, I wouldn't want any part of $6mm per

Couldn't agree more. That's why its important to have some players in your farm system. Can't keep paying out UFA $ every single year.

So the Flyers next free agent or trade transaction will be in 2034?

Sorry I shouldnt have said "solved." I meant until we at least get two bodies that will wear pads and stand in the net

Concussion history +shoulder history + power forward = disabled list.

Pass, thank you.

The Flyers minor league system is by in large a barren wasteland. Granted most of the young players are playing in the NHL, but there is very little talent. Part and parcel to continually throwing draft picks away for quick fixes.

I think we need to tweak the team and be patient at the same time. Reorganize the youth I would call it. Get the 5th overall from Carolina for Coburn and the 11th. Trade Couturier or Laughton for a young d-man coming up in the system like Erixon, and try and sign either Lecavalier or Richards for the second line. Then stay patient with the team we have, while adding vets to compete.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Richards/Lecavalier-Simmonds
Read-Couturier/Laughton-Nichushkin
McGinn-Talbot-Rinaldo

Timonen-Schenn
Grossmann-Streit
Gustefsson-Meszaros

Erixon or whoever would be injury replacement and be ready for Timonen's retiring.

Mason
Thomas

Now that would be a balanced team to develop:
On Wing:
Voracek, Simmonds, Nichushkin, Schenn
Center:
Giroux, Couturier/Laughton, Cousins
Defense:
Gustefsson, Erixon, Schenn, Gostisbere
Goalie:
Mason

Holmgren is going to have to move a defenseman. Also, don't see him holding onto Read knowing his contract is up and will demand a significant raise. Top priorities will be Giroux, Schenn and Couturier.

That just means whoever we pick in the later rounds will get top ice time in the AHL and we will see who actually can develop into top players... instead of them being buried behind 1st round prospects....

Brightside.

Good point and he's much older then Gervais but it's not like it can't be done. I expect Gervias to become the whipping boy this season. I don't like his game at all. I'm surprised he isn't whipped on already. He isn't nearly as much as Randy Jones, Matt Carle, Andreas Nodl or Kyle Calder. I think Bruno Gervais fits in perfectly.

Overexaggeration. They have young defenseman in Ghostibhere, Lauridsen and Alt. They have forward prospects such as Laughton, McGinn, and Cousins. And Goalie prospects such as Stolarz, and there is another young goalie whose name escapses me. That Holmgren said they were high on. Plus they signed some undrafed Free Agents.

Couturier for Erixon would be an absolute awful deal for the Flyers.

I don't think the farm system is great but its not terrible either.
