I really would like them to draft Rasmus Ristolainen - I think he could play next year. - flyersfan51
I would be happy with him. I feel like he could drop in the draft because he doesn't blow people away with skill like Nurse does. I could see him dropping like Maata did last year. Maybe not as far though. |

I'm going to assume the Flyers are going after Vinny. Would be a nice pickup for the Flyers. - Flyersgod
I think this is simply a good buyout for Tampa. That contract was crazy the moment it was printed. Lecavlier would be a splash signing and I think he would great as a Flyer. I feel the same about Hossa if he were to be bought out. The same for Iglina. Addressing the defense is extremely important but I would grab a top talented forward while they're out there as well. |

I think things are confusing to them. Many of them hold their heritage so dearly but not in a racist way. They do civil war re-inactments, but not because they want slavery back.
I've I visited my friends at schools in the south and most of the younger people aren;t racist at all, but love lots of things that society may frown upon. |

I've seen more racism up north, then down south. Just a deflection technique northerners use to look non-racist. |

Fairly low-risk pick as defensemen go but his upside is also lower than quite a few of the other D in the draft pool. I seriously doubt he's going to be much of a point producer OR a true shutdown defenseman, either. |

Bill,
Bob McKenzie tweeted last night that buyout candidates have to go through waivers before the buyout can be exercised. Does that mean a team could claim a buyout candidate and assume their contract?
Given the reported interested in Briere, and his relatively low salary, wouldn't it make sense for a team with enough cap room to claim him if they were really interested? It gets around both the no-trade and FA issues. - TheGreat28
I can't believe there hasn't been anybody who's responded on this point yet... there are a lot of cap floor teams that would love to capitalize on the difference between his real salary and cap hit plus add an offensive contributor... Islanders and the Coyotes come to mind.
If Briere gets picked off waivers, the Flyers would still have a CBO available... hmmmmm. |

I'd hate to tell ya, but white people use more government money than all minorities combined. |

I doubt that. It would take more of an impact player than coburn. The top 5 will most likely bring you a superstar in this draft. |

Ignorance and racism are prevalent on both sides of the Mason-Dixon, but the key difference in the South is that their racism/ignorance is rooted in a history of subjugation based on notions of racial superiority.... and it's not only Paula Dean that's waxing nostalgic about the good ol' days.
I grew up in the South, btw. |

If I were the Flyers, I would start negotiating right now based on that contract. Get him signed before free agency hits and some average players gets paid $5M |
