CALGARY -- The Calgary Flames shook up their front office Thursday after a disappointing start to the season, firing general manager Jay Feaster and assistant general manager John Weisbrod.

Seguin 2-2-4 last night
Meanwhile, Eriksson learned how to take the straw out of the wrapper so he could drink his soup without help
At least we got Riley Smith ...
Fraser has not translated well to the NHL level thus far ... Looks almost too slow at this level to be effective. Game seems too fast for him here.
The jury is still out on Morrow but if he pans out, is Morrow and Reilly a good enough return for Seguin?

It hinges on Eriksson an if he can get healthy and contribute more in the playoffs then Seguin did. He also has a favourable cap hit. Time will tell but right now it doesn't look good. |

I would hope so ... He sucks !!!
I'm sorry, but I can't let it go ... This is more and more looking to be the worst move of Chiarelli's career. Not moving Seguin, per se (I wouldn't have traded him, personally), but not getting anywhere even close to the return that he should have gotten. |

Harvard doesnt miss on these guys. Betting he becomes a top 4 D
No way we could predict Loui gets 2 concussions when making the trade. I dont care about Tyler on the ice when we had to have guards remind the snarky little turd to remain in his room in the Toronto series. How did he play in the playoffs again? He and his twitter account can stay in Dallas since he couldnt back up his off ice bulls@it when it mattered on ice aside from 1 game against Tampa and 1 game against Washington in the past 3 years

I actually thought Seguin had a good final. A few huge assists in that series. |

Shouldn't have bumped him for Jagr. (frank)ing Jagr.
Segs is putting up lots of points against garbage teams, for a team where he's a 1st option. It shouldn't be a surprise, he's skilled, but can't fall into the trap of thinking he'd duplicate that production in Boston.
PC said it himself on Behind the B, he's a good player, he's going to be a good player. $ wise something had to give to get guys re-upped, and he was the expendable one. |

It's not the concussions, it's the complete and total ineffectiveness of his game on this team with Clooooooooooooode's structure. It's something Chiarelli had the responsibility of gauging and getting right before pulling the trigger on something this big. Swing and a miss...
Still better than the Thornton deal - Double_A
No so sure about that ...
Sturm was good for a couple 27-goal, 45-56 point campaigns before the injury. Brad Stuart has had a solid career as a highly-touted NHL defenseman. Heck, right now Eriksson is on pace to match Wayne Primeau's PPG production as a Bruin ...
So right now we have the best player coming out of the trade, Reilly Smith, on pace to beat Sturm's best production as a Bruin this season. So far, Smith > Sturm.
We have Eriksson on pace to match Wayne Primeau ...
We have Fraser who I'm going to go ahead and say is another Chris Bourque-type but without the wheels. Likely an AHL stud / NHL dud.
So more or less, the trade becoming better than the Thornton deal hinges on Joe Morrow having the NHL career of Brad Stuart.
That's nowhere (frank)ing near a good enough return for a talent like Seguin, not to mention (frank)ing Peverley was included in the deal too.
We got (frank)ing ass raped. |

Incomplete. Not swing and a miss. I view him as a 20 goal guy with better defensive presence and a better work ethic. Apparently he's one concussion away from his Polish citizenship now

Incomplete. Not swing and a miss. - bruinsbeer69
Incomplete, but looking like a swing and a miss for a guy who was the centerpiece of the Dallas return coming back to the Bruins.
I'm sure Chiarelli wasn't banking on Smith being the stud of this trade ... Let's not forget, he had to earn his spot at camp. I'm thrilled with Smith, personally. Loved his game from the minute he got here.
Can't say as much about Loui, who has had most of his whopping 5 goals in 24 games bounce off his ass on their way to the net. He's been struggling from the minute he got here, unfortunately.
Right now, Smith is the only bright spot in this trade ... Lets pray for Joe Morrow to be the next Ray Bourque. |
