Gleason trade should make the Leafs/Sabres rivalry better. Otts wife cheated on him with Gleason, and Gleason had a baby with her |

"Gleason, 30, has declined noticeably in the last couple seasons, so if he's going to help the Maple Leafs, he will have to reverse the trend. Gleason's had Corsi deficits as a standard, but it's dramatically worse since the start of last season and he's not playing the same minutes, nor facing the same level of competition that he has in past seasons.
A stay-at-home defenceman whose career-high in scoring was 21 points with Los Angeles in 2005-2006, Gleason won't be asked to work the power play or anything of the sort in Toronto, but don't be surprised if the Maple Leafs give Gleason a chance to play 20 minutes a night, either as a veteran complement to a young puck-movers Jake Gardiner or Morgan Rielly or, potentially, alongside Dion Phaneuf on the top shutdown pair.
There isn't anything to suggest that Gleason is up to the latter challenge, which is fine since the Leafs are giving up a player that they were barely using anyway, but it's unrealistic to expect Gleason to suddenly become a difference-maker on the Toronto blueline when he was entirely mediocre while playing 15:54 per game in Carolina this year. To be fair, injuries have been part of Gleason's problem this year, as he's been limited to just 17 games."

Screw you guys ...
Anyone who thinks we got fair value in return on that trade has their head further up their ass than an NHL referee. And don't forget that Peverley went the other way too.
Morrow better turn out to be the next (frank)ing Lidstrom.

I was on board with the trade, mostly because I trust ChiaClaude when it comes to these decisions. But it's hard to disagree with you. |

Jesus christ, by the end of last year most people were willing to trade Peverley for a case of herpes.
All we got back in return is the leading scorer on a 1st place team, a veteran top 6 player, cap space and 2 decent to very good prospects. I'd say PC adequately replaced him |

i am not a huge fan of the trade but eriksson getting two concussions in less than 3 months certainly didn't help things. Peverly was going to get pushed out with yeti, spooner etc.. coming up. reilly smith could be a top 6 player. seguin going to be offensive leader much like phillis and jumbo joe who both lacked the super super star it factor of some others. they haven't won poop and i'm sure he won't win anymore |

Smith is looking like he's definitely a top 6 player ... Eriksson, when not drinking soup through a straw, has looked like a player struggling to adapt to his new teammates and Bruins' style of play. He seems to be more of a soft, finesse kind of player which isn't the Bruins at all. The only aspect of his game that has Bruins characteristics is his ability to play a good defensive game. Morrow is the wildcard, and I gotta say it's looking better and better .... Kid is putting it together in Providence.
Again, it's not so much saying goodbye to Seguin the person and player, it's about saying goodbye to the value of the asset. Seguin the person seems kinda like a douche ... But so was Phil and we managed a great return for him. |

agree with everything. remember we got very lucky with the return picks because toronto was so (frank)ing terrible for those years.
morrow will be interesting. he was originally pittsburgh property that they traded for brandon morrow who came in and did poop when the bruins swept them so that would be double the pleasure there. i (frank)ing hate the pens.
on a different note the flames are stacking up on goons with mcgratts, mac d and now westgarth. gotta think its possible one of the goons + + for caron and ? |
