Wheeler at six-years, $33.6 million
- JS2012
WOW
I thought it was a typo. What a joke!
Good thing the lockout brought contract prices back down to earth |

a little rich for wheeler (probably $600k to a 1 mil too much per year) but he is not the same player we had
it also has to do with context, the jets needed to keep him
he definitely took that trade to heart and has been better since dealt
most of us knew that was a very real possibility when he was moved
it needed to happen and it worked out for both sides |

Fine print in Wheeler's new contract:
"A salary fine of $25,000 per every offsides call in which Wheeler is the man offsides shall apply."
That should bring him down a couple million and even out the contract |

$10k for every time you miss the net or hit the opposing goalie in the chest
honestly, if not for the price tag he would look good back here |

Woof ... Jets better draft well. $5M per for Bogo too. Lots of $ tied up in "good" players and not much for, if any, top end guys. |

@TSNBobMcKenzie: FLA just working thru final insurance issues and if all goes as expected today, Tim Thomas will be back on the ice with the Panthers.
See how it goes, not that I really care how he does to be honest...
Bruins play Panthers 5 times this year... |

Hope he does well, don't care about his personal politics or off-ice nonsense, he was a god damn hero when he put on the jersey. |

Obviously I will always be happy with what he did in 2011, but how he left left a bad taste for me...I didn't really care about the White House fiasco, but his Facebook announcements stating his views while at the same time advertising his business ventures struck me as self serving..
He certainly had the right to take a year off, but it left the Bruins with a $5 million cap hit issue until they traded the contract to the Isles..
Whatever...it will be interesting to see how he does but don't really care about him anymore...and if he does make the Panthers I hope he gets hammered by the Bruins....
I guess I am big on the legacy thing and I didn't like how it all ended... |

Probably be one of those things where 5-10 years down the road they invite him back to celebrate the 11 cup and the whole thing is blown over. |

I doubt even now he'd get booed. Will probably get a standing ovation.
The dude was going to get traded. Decided he wasn't interested in getting shipped out somewhere with no say a year after winning the cup at almost 40.
I'm not upset, tuukka is the future |

Yep and at the end of the day didn't hurt the team one bit. |

Yeah...probably right...I just have some doubt as to his intent....
One thing about Timmay is never count him out! Wouldnt surprise me at all he makes the Panthers...
I think he would still get a big ovation if he comes back and plays against the Bruins... |

unless the Obama ball washers at the Boston Globe write the story....then it will be center stage......who are we kidding, they'll be out of business by then
Happy for him, as strange as he is. Hope he does well. We dont win that cup without him.

Yup.
A few teams are going to regret it, I would think ...
Hell, if Tuukka goes down for any amount of time we're gonna regret it |
