Would be nice but, that's throwing all of your trade chips into one pot and still not solving your defensemen issue with little to none to pick from in FA.

Bobrovsky being offered to teams by the Blue Jackets. Told he wants $6 mil per. Columbus in market for a goalie.

David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod 24m
Calls for Anaheim's Bobby Ryan have kept coming in. It'll be interesting to see if anyone steps up and pays ANA's price.

I'd look at Ferrence or Scuderi...then by mid season bring up one of their prospects from Bridgeport, if they are ready...

Really hate to lose Grabs...I know he is good for 20 goals but it could be 50 easy if his aim wasn't so off, but he is so good on the PK...I said this before his breakaways on the PK , even though he misses, is time out of our end.....he has an active stick at the blue line too....Bailey the pick and Nino I'd give up for a good return.

Too many big market teams are looking at those 2. The Isles won't be able to outbid the NYR, PHI or BOS for those guys.
I'm hoping for some great things with the Islanders in the next 2 weeks but looking at the track record, I'm not expecting a #1 goalie, a top line winger and a top pair D man. At least 3/4 of the teams in the NHL need at least one of those and most to a FA is more intriguing then the NYI.
We can see the Isles as up and coming and have an awesome future but how many in the hockey world still see Wang, Snow, the coliseum and the circus that has surrounded this team for the better part of 2 decades.

It seems someone on the Islanders doesn't like him...was playing 4th line as I remember...I like him though...can't beat his speed...

Grabner has the best anticipation of where the puck is going to go since Ziggy Palffy was an Isle, but has less than half the hands Ziggy did. He could easily break out for another 30-35 goal season or finish a season with 20. You won't find 3rd line depth like that around the league especially with the pking abilities and the comparatively low contract and salary cap hit. I'd think he stays.

The good thing this year is they are all against the cap...so the big spenders won't be free wheeling as in the past. After next year I read the cap could go up to $70 million and to $76 million the year after...if the Islanders are going to spend on FA or make trades this is the year to do it...

Letang signs 8 years at $58 million.
The 2014-15 Pittsburgh Penguins already have $45 of the $64 million cap committed to 8 players.

what am i missing?

the if he had better aim part? well if any player had better aim, they could score 50 goals potentially.

i don't think anyone in the nhl can be an easy 50 goal scorer.

Scary but he could if didn't have hands like feet. In an 82 game schedule, he probably creates 40-45 breakaways a year, but, only scores on 10-12 of those.

Maybe I'm missing something too but I think their explaining that Grabner has skills and assets most NHL guys don't have. His anticipation and speed can kill teams but if he was able to figure out how to deke and bury the puck, he would be an extremely dangerous player.
The kid scored 16 goals this year while only averaging like 8 minutes a game because the coaching staff for whatever reason didn't like or trust him out there.
