Thats a lot of Beef! Wouldnt hurt the Isles to get bigger and stronger.
I do like,
Nikita Zadorov
Ht/Wt:6' 5"/230 lbs
Position:D
Team: London (OHL) but I think we'd have to move up to get him - SCLI
I like Zadorov also, but don't think he will be there, and the F's from 15 on are all very good, just depends on who fits Isles system...
but I do prefer the BEEF with the kids only being 18yrs old |

disagree, the prospects are starting to overflow and there soon wont be enough spots for all these guys...get the best player available or trade the pick for an established NHLer.
dee, "CHOSING"?!?!?! - LetsGoIsles
Also these 2 kids that I like would not be ready until 3-5yrs down the line, by then Moulson, KO, Bailey, Grabs, Frans, might not be around... |

yes, but (hopefully) those guys will be in the nhl (on the isles) for more time than it takes to develop a prospect - LetsGoIsles
Exactly! Somewhere along the line there will be a glut of prospects ready to make the jump. One two or three may have to go eventually. Why not get value while we can. Its the GM's job to figure who goes who stays and when we can get optimum value.
Not every one of our top Prospect will pan out. Thats also the job of the GM to figure which ones will develop and which ones may not. The long shots should be traded before anyone else realizes they wont reach potential. |

OK were on the same page so lets wait and see what Sunday brings. This should be the yr that we use our excess Blue Chip prospects and our very valuable #15 to cash in on a very good young vet.
No excuses anymore.

I feel like need a player like Lucic or Kassian. does anyone in the draft fit the bill? And to be clear, Im looking for a goon. Lucic and Kassian are very talented offensively.
Isles need a power foward that plays with chip on his shoulder.

Just a difference of opinion. You say toe ma toe, I say toe maa toe.
None of us are experts. You dont mind waiting 8, 9, 10 yrs or more. Some of us are ready to make a splash now. We've been patient.
The rebuild must reach its peak eventually. Why not now? |

hahaha, true.
Snow does have to do something -
NHL roster as is -
Moulson - JT - ?
Bailey* - Nielsen - Okposo
Grabner - ? - Martin
McDonald - Cizikas - Boulton
Hamonic* - MacDonald
Viz - Strait
Donovan? - Carkner
?
Poulin
Not in NHL YET -
W - Nino, Persson, Lee, Kabonov
C - Strome, Nelson, Sundstrom
D - DeHaan, Ness, Reinhart, Pedan, Mayfield, Finley
G - Nilsson, Koskinen
Not signed - Hamonic, Bailey, Hickey, Nabokov, Martinek, Joensuu, Reasoner (thank God), Boyes (sorry Kencan)
Hope he finds a room with no doors and windows - DP
I'm sure I'm missing players but that's a good number of players in the system that are coming to the big boy club within the next 1-3 years. Snow has said he has pieces to trade now, does he trade NHL players or some of those younger pieces... |

Despite the limited success the Nielsen line has had. I'd still rather he be centering the 3rd line and we have someone else as our #2 center.
For that matter I'd like that entire 2nd line to become our 3rd line! |

In order for Zadorov to be there, a whole lot of teams between 8-15 would have had to hire clones of Mike Milbury as their GM. I'll take either Zykov or Morin, myself. We have lots of small and fast. We need large and angry.
As for the goalies...he has to do something....and by something, I mean a solid, veteran goaltender, not Al Montoya. If Snow doesn't understand that MOST of the reason our team fell short of at least having a shot at the playoffs for the last two seasons prior to this one concerned there having been FAR too many games played by sh*t goaltenders, then he DOES need to be fired, pretty much immediately. Bad defense hurts, and so does lack of offense, but if your goaltender is cr*p, you are f***ed, no matter what the 18 guys without the pads on are doing. |

As would I. But, with the current NHL roster, that's the teams best. Would love Strome, Nelson and Nino to be a future 2nd line but that's years away to put 3 kids together on a top 6 line. |

It should be our third line. We just don't have a second line until the likes of Strome and Niederreiter are truly ready. Once that happens, if these guys are still around, they'll be one of the best third lines in the league, in my opinion. |

brody And dcb1,
Agreed. We are missing a complete 2nd line and a wing for JT along with a goalie and a "D" man.
Without a couple of moves. It will be rough to make the PO's despite what others are saying. |

If they can get Lecavalier for a 1 year deal then yes but I'm guessing all of the major market teams will bid against each other and the Isles will be out by the 1st day.

If we have no goalie; or pick up a Biron or Montoya to play goal with Poulin, we will not make the playoffs. I know everyone is saying Garth will pick up a goalie, but as of now I see no indictation of this. Its a big problem and he should be aggressive right now trying to pick one up. |

Drafting a goalie with our first round pick would be a mistake. However, I wouldn't be opposed to using one of our 4th round picks on a goaltending prospect. I'm not sure if she knows there are other goaltending prospects in this draft and some rankings don't even have Fucale number 1 among goalies, but rather Tristian Jarry.
As for our goalies in our system now, I like Nilsson, Poulin, Koskinen in that order. I rank Koskinen last solely because I have not heard much on him lately. I know he was a former 2nd round pick, but that was 4(?) years ago, but it doesn't seem he has progressed much. Have I missed something on him? - engrassias2
Is this the kid that's going to Notre Dame? I read about a kid who I think was 6'5" and going to ND, I can't remember his name. He's expected to be a later round pick, but I remember thinking this is the kind of goalie the Islanders would draft. It would give them four years for the kid to develop in college before they needed to make a decision on him. |
