You never know? We may have two new ones coming up this season? Adding a top 4 and a legit starter will not set this team back and will propel them in the right direction. We can still "stay the course" and be successful while adding to our line up. We aren't talking about trading the farm here. Sign Emery and Ference. There you go see how easy that was? No prospects given up. Two legit NHL'ers who could immediately help our line up without giving too much up including salary. Still "staying the course"... - Cptmjl
Are you saying the legit 4 and starter as Emery & Ference.. if so... that would still be staying the course. you just disagreed with my post while saying the same exact thing I said.

Zadorov won't be taken in the top 10, the kid is a project. There's still a good chance he'll be gone when the Islanders pick, but anyone that takes him the top 10 must have Scott Howson running the draft. - shinkdew
I've only seen him ranked worse than 10th in 2 draft rankings out of the 15 or so that I've read- the absolute worst is 16th (Corey Pronman), and no one else has him on the board when it's our turn. I would be shocked if he is still there when we pick, and like I said the other day, that would be the perfect opportunity for Snow to be the "anti-jacka$$" in a draft situation. We deserve that- Robert Nilsson was more than enough payback for Mike Bossy. |

Guys I don't know, we will have to trade some of our young guns to get someone worth value here. It is part of the sport. That being said which of the prospects and or players are you guys willing to give up??? |

Well, I've seen Nino offered for every table scrap that any team cares to discard. And I've seen Isles fans throw our first round pick into trades like it was about as valuable as Justin Mapletoft. Stuff like that doesn't excite me much...

I mean it seems like every guy we ever drafted is hands off. Problem is teams want prospects for a good return. If we don't trade any of them then we are never going to get anyone. Once in a while you go for the gamble and trade one or two pieces away. We have plenty in the system now where we can do that, and GArth himself said "We now have the prospects to make trades". Still nothing has happened |

Not really since every time someone makes a trade proposal it gets shot down no matter who. So tell me since you are the genius of the Islander brass, what type of trade would you make? Which players go and for whom?? |

What proposal? I've seen Nino and a first for Bernier, which was overpayment imo because the goalie market is crowded with legit options every year, and I've seen Strome, Nino, our first and DP for Luongo, which is absurd...
Show me these fair trade proposals you're talking about and let's discuss them. We have prospects ready to step in and fill holes next season...Nelson, Donovan, Nino and possibly Strome. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do, and wouldn't ship them out for the sake of "doing something" or in exchange for some mercenary FA-to-be who will simply walk at the end of this coming season.
Got an NHL-ready prospect in mind that you're interested in swapping one of our NHL-ready prospects for? I'm all ears. Have an established player signed for a few years that's available for a package including a prospect? Let's talk about it. Trading them for 33 or 34 year old goalies either signed to enormous contracts or not signed past this season is a waste as far as I'm concerned.

I think the 'everyone's tradeable' response strikes me as a bit cliche around here. A player being tradeable depends largely on their role, price, ability, social standing on the team as well as other variables. I mean sure, you can argue that a particular player is tradeable because in a dream scenario where we traded Hamonic for Doughty, we'd all jump at it but it's not a realistic scenario in the first place. I think we have a short list of players that I'd consider 'off limits' simply because their ceiling is more valuable than their present value.
