Which team is in rebuild here? Watching hinkie pull off those deals last night makes me more frustrated at the flyers lack of direction other than making the playoffs.
And the two weeks of winning at the end of the year. Ugh what a colossal error - Just5
What makes what Hinkie did, any different from what Holmgren did in trading Richards and Carter?

Could be. That's the thing with Nichushkin and Lindholm. The ceilings are high, but they might turn out to be simply solid NHLers...or even the next Hugh Jessiman - Jsaquella
Lindholm was less than impressive on YouTube. Not sure what that means |

it depends on what is meant by replace briere. if that is narrowly defined, i would agree, but if it just means adding another scorer to play in the top 6 and/or PP, i don't think that would be dumb. - isaiah520
sounded pretty specific, and ignorant, to me.
if they meant general top six forward i would think that's what they would say, not name a name |

I would be surprised to see Nichushkin go in the top 3, I'm pretty confident he isn't going to the Preds at #4. Barkov has nearly the same ceiling and none of the KHL factor be worried about. I just can't see him going before Barkov, Drouin, or Lindholm. - ravishingone
I love Barkov. The two guys I have been high on from January or so on have been him and Zadorov. |

Did you see Feaster asking GMs to call him for Camallari? What an asshat. You mine-as-well say, this guy is worthless and we will be using a CBO. Guy is terrible and I hope Homer has been calling. - coffee junkie
The Canucks still say they're not buying out Luongo...I'd be stunned if anyone took that contract on |

They have until July 4th to keep saying it.

You mean the part that most journalists called "The Luongo Rule"?
Guessing they skimmed over it. |

There is no KHL factor. He will be playing in NA next season. |

True, he does have the same NMC that prevented Briere, Bryzgalov and Lecavalier from having to clear waivers. |

I think this is a case where if they buyout Luongo someone in their management will lose their job so they're trying everything possible to just dump him. |

If the Leafs did offer anything of value at the TDL, Gillis royally messed up |

That has to be the most hilarious comment I've read lately.. I cannot see anyone taking that contract on unless maybe the canucks took half of the money for a team that has trouble making the cap floor.. even then Lu has a NMC. Maybe they'll wait til next summer to buy him out, but they are acting like they are in the drivers seat when anyone with a brain can tell they are not going to get assets for him. |

I don't understand this rationale.
Not singling you out Jake, but I've seen the same thing said about Bryz or Vinny....
"Jesus I'm surprised (Yzerman or Homer or Gilis or any other name) hasn't been fired after buying out ____"
Why would people be fired after that? I don't understand that. It doesn't make sense. People are saying that someone should be fired because they basically admitted they made a mistake and took a mulligan? With ZERO hockey/cap related consequences? |

I believe the Flyers won the Division before trading Carter and Richards. Much riskier. 76ers really had to start over given the NBA's cap structure. |

I understand what he has been quoted as saying. However, an athlete's opinion can change. Also, I think Barkov and Lindholm are just rated higher. However, I could see the Flyers trading up just for the opportunity to him.
We can debate over the organizational philosophy and patience. However, the Flyers very rarely have the opportunity to draft in the top 6 especially in a very deep class. I could see them taking this unique opportunity to identify a franchise changing player and spending significant assets to acquire. |

Wasn't it supposed to be a couple assets, but when the Leafs wanted Van City to take money back , they said no. |

I would be real surprised if hinkie signed a UFA this summer who is older with a larger contract than holiday. That's what Holmgren ended up doing after the trades.
It's apples and oranges anyway. |

The cap was a big factor in the Richards and Carter trades. It's still the same basic principle. Trading established players for youth and future assets.

Well, that mulligan, in the case of Bryzgalov, means that Ed Snider is paying him $1,642,857 a year, for the next 14 years, to not play hockey for his team. That's a lot of money to pay a dude to do nothing. |

Hinkie's trying to tank and get a top pick in a very deep NBA draft. The Flyers were still tyring to be a competitive team and were. |

But...why does that matter to us here as fans of the Flyers? Would should we be calling for Homer's head?

The same thing was done. I heard they re-signed Kwame Brown. Is that true? How old is he? I think this myth that the Flyers don't have a plan. Is just that, a myth.
