If you extend Letang, hed still be at 3.5 for this year before the new deal kicks in correct, when the cap goes up next year? |

Then I don't see this making sense. Who is going to fill Coburn's spot and take his minutes? I don't want Streit slotted as the 2/3 dman. |

Homer did trade Dan Hamhius to the Pens, so there is a chance. |

You really think the flyers aren't prepared to pay him what he wants? He basically takes over for kimmo. Cap dollars a non issue
When you think about each teams needs
The pens and flyers are perfect trade partners for this |

seriously???
this is beyond stupid, Carolina knew Jordan Staal wanted to sign because of Eric, you could hand Shero assets for one year & he signs back in Pittsburgh, they are saying the same thing in Toronto. |

Supposedly Snider shut down a private airport to bring in Weber for a visit. If by chance (very slim) they acquire Letang, I'm pretty sure the Flyers will satisfy his contractual demands. |

No deal without being able to negotiate an extension. |

Need cost certainty. No way I'm trading a part of the young core for a possible 1 year rental. |

Duh??
they offered him 8 years $56 million, he turned it down, Shero could get assets lose him for one year, resign him for the $7.5 million a year he wants & he goes back
I'm sure the Pens would love this opportunity |

You make sure that Letang agreeing to an extension is part of the trade. Basically, no new contract, no trade. |

I wouldn't want letang with a cap number over 7 million for 8 or 9 years. |

Not necessarily. The Flyers can make hammering out a new contract part of the trade. No new contract, no trade. |

no one brought up that point, I mean, why would anyone trust that trade otherwise?

IF they were to acquire Letang (which would be insane) Id imagine theyd have a deal in place and pay him what he wants. As far as Letang wanting to come here Id imagine the Flyers would be on a list of destinations hed like. He saw how they value franchise Dmen last summer. |

I understand your point, but this is the Flyers. First, we know he will get a full NMC. Second, his agent would be crazy not to have him sign a lucrative extension before the start of this season because if he gets concussed (again), he could be out a long time greatly inhibiting his bargaining power next summer. Finally, I don't see Shero seeing him walk for nothing, even if it means reducing their chances of winning the Cup this year which I think it will if Letang is moved. |

I'm not the biggest Letang fan, but yeah, I'd take him at $7.5mm for 8 years. He is an elite offensive defenseman. Key is getting the two way game to be better
But any defenseman with his offensive ability will command that kind of money. |

I also really don't understand all the hate for Streit. Yeah, he's going to make 5.25 mil, but the offensive dmen command that money as you say.. on TSN, people are acting like we signed Randy Jones.. |
