Interesting. Even if the extension is agreed to before the trade? - jstross
Yes, because technically the extension can't be filed with the NHL and become official until after July 5th. |

Sure, why can't Homer and the agent have a gentleman's agreement in principle. Once he is officially acquired, sign the paperwork. He'll get 8 years and a ton of money if they acquire him and a full NMC. I think he wants a little more money and a full NMC so they don't move him to bottom feeding team in a few years. - ravishingone

Only way I give them Cousins is if they make us take Fleury in the deal |

No, between agent and Homer as far as contract terms. In my opinion, Shero will take the best offer. It's not like he will have half the NHL knocking on his door because of Letang's contract demands. Only a few select teams will want to give him Weber money and full NMC. |

Ugh. For Homer, he'd need to see the fine print. Shero is no dummy. Is Letang in this system worth $7 mil per? Above my pay grade. I'd hate to lose Schenn to pay more money for a player, but it is a need. I'd stay patient and wait.

Just to weigh in on a few things I read while skimming the previous pages.
1. I don't see a chance in this world, or any other world, that the Penguins and Flyers agree to a Letang trade. Yeah we traded Hamhuis' rights to them the other year but that was because we knew where he was going in the end and wanted to recoup the pick we gave up for his rights in the first place.
2. I'm not for or against moving Coburn. But Homer better have a darn good clue who's going to replace his 20+ minutes of ice time/game if he moves him. And the answer is not relying on Streit or counting on the health of Grossmann and Meszaros. |

Can't see us ever dealing with the Pens for something like this..too much worry both ways that pieces traded come back to bite the other team. |

That is tough $$$ but it makes us better, no doubt, but I can see the price coming down once the first puck is dropped. I understand the asking price & the chance at hand, but we lost Carle (no, he's not Letang not even close), for nothing.
Shero does really well, trade package wise unloading potential UFA's
I thought Toronto was his desired destination?? |

For the going rate of offensive d-man, the going rate for a 26 year old offensive d-man is closer to $7.5 million. This issue will be resolved by Sunday in my opinion for Letang and the Pens. Not sure which way it ends, but I have little doubt Homer has made a phone call to Shero. |

Can't see it.. I also don't see why we are so hot and horny to trade Coburn.. Slot him correctly and don't ask him to be a puck mover etc, then we are good.. Hard to replace his minutes.. Mesz is off the books after this year so why lose Coburn unless you hate the composition of the d and have a plan to change it. |

Exactly, just fun to talk about...probably 0.000001% chance of happening.
Of course, the Flyers traded Ross Lonsberry, Tom Bladon and Orest Kindrachuk to the Pens for a 1st rounder, back in the day |

It's a conundrum...I know it's a stretch, but what if you get a fully healthy lineup, without Coburn:
Schenn Timonen
Streit Grossmann
Mez Gustafsson
Gervais
Lauri |

It's going to be interesting that's for sure. If the Flyers do end up with Letang for Schenn, Cousins and the 2nd rd pick Coby is gonzo to move up to get another young forward in the draft.
Sure will be interesting. |

Having they coveted Vinny Lecavalier for years? I would think that would be the move considering Markov is making good money and Subban will need a pay increase in the near future.
