I heard some guy from central scouting on the radio and he said the reason Nurse was climbing in the rankings was because he showed them something new in his game every time they saw him. He had improved on his weaknesses steadily over the season. He was pretty excited about the player.
- mayorofangrytown

Someone's mock draft on the NHL Channel had Nurse going around 5 or 6...he definitely seems to be trending upward.

Then they were talking about Colorado saying they are going to take MacKinnon, and with the Lightning needing to replace Vinny, how the draft could get real wonky real quick.

Looking forward to it!

TSN ran a spot about Nurse's Jagr-like work ethic... works out fastidiously after every game.... inspired a lot of his teammates with the sheer amount of work he puts in.

It was a bit easy to maybe dismiss him early on as a guy who's been getting by on his physical abilities, but the fact that he's willing to bring his lunch pail and then some bodes well for his future.

JfC, we really did sign him to a 2 year deal, right?
- hammarby31

Yeah, absolutely couldn't allow him to hit UFA... an all-out bidding war might have ensued... we could have lost him for nothing!

I only wish it's half as fun as the NBA draft was.

they dont. but letang has virtually ensured he wont be back. and the flyers are always likely to make a move. i think the 1.5 is a good measure. i think at least one is all but assured. you never know. between them both, it wouldnt shock me to see 2 or 3 subsequent ones as well
- stayinthefnnet

Unless Letang wants to take an extreme hometown discount, he won't be back. If the leaked details are true about what the Pens offered him. We'll see what the counter offer is.

I have no problem with Rosehill. He's strong on the puck, good in the room, and fully capable of skating a 4th line shift.... yada, yada, yada.... rinse, repeat....

According to reports the Pens offered 8 yrs at 7 and his agent countered with 8 at between 7.5 and 8. The Pens said no way.

I was at that game, it was cold and snowy and this homeless drunk skinny guy comes on the field in a Santa Claus outfit in the dump known as Franklin Field that has freezing wooden benches to sit on. The fans couldnt help themselves with the elements, the stadium and the bum

He can also be sent to the AHL. It's not like the Shelley situation. He's basically there just in case the sh!t hits the fan.

This is wonderful news. Even if he doesn't come to the Flyers, the fact Crosby's and Malkin's contracts are starting to handcuff the team is great.

7M a year would be a pretty substantial underpayment for him. He could hit Free Agency and command significantly more.

I think it would be more of a choice then anything. They could create the room if they wanted to. We'll see how it goes.

Are you really going to let a player like Letang go over 500k per year?

You know whose contract looks really cap friendly right now?

Max Talbot.

Its funny how Homer takes a beating for everything that doesnt go right, but seldom gets credit for the things that do work out.

He would be off the Cap. Just has to clear Waivers. Not a bad player to have as a 12-13th player.

But could he go to a place where he has a better chance to win? If it was me, I would stay and be apart of what could be the last true dynasty since the days of Islanders and Oilers.

Talbot's cap friendly number was one of a couple reasons he was brought up in trade rumors before he broke his leg.
