Far too much time? you mean a year? They have invested more in Cody and Ennis.
Grigo has potential.. that is all - RynoBull
Hodgson?? Was here 1 half season. No they have invested more in Grigs. Private skating instructor private strength trainer. He is in their long term plans. No way they bail on him |

It would be Griro and Vanek for Barkov and I don't think I would make that deal - Diagnus
Vanek for a year, a potential rental? I sure would |

theyve put way more into Grigorenko then they did Hodgson. He was basically a "finished product" when they got him. He just needed ice time
And obviously they have with Ennis...he is older - CaptPantalones
Hodson is far from a finished product.
Back end work needs lots o help |

It's not the Vanek part we don't agree on. It's the Girgorenko part |

Is Hodson on the block then. - hafgod
The only way I think hes on the block is if this rumor of him rejecting 4 years @ 13 mil is indeed true. Then I wouldnt be shocked if they shopped him around.
Im one of the few, but if the Sabres do indeed move up into the top 5, I do not feel they will take a C. Had they got to 1, sure theyd likely take MacKinnon, theyd be stupid not to. Just like Colorado would be dumb to pass on him (even though I wouldnt argue the idea of taking Jones either)
If Buffalo gets up, I believe it is going to be because they want Jon Drouin. He has a talent and a skill set no other Sabres winger has. He really is a solid mix of a Stamkos and Kane type player.
Buffalo can win in the future with a C core of Hodgson, Grigs, Larsson and Girgs. Now its just about adding the wingers to put it all together |

obviously he needs work, but the Canucks already put a lot into him was my point. He just wasnt getting the quality ice time to learn and try to make it all work |

I think, apologies to Garth, Barkov or Drouin is more of a sure thing than Grigorenko. |

second line center on a team ready to make a cup run
this team needs a lot of upgrades, but I think he is as close as any on the roster as being a part of the teams solution moving forward
along with foligno, ennis, weber, ott and maybe pysyk |

My fear is that they are going to try way too hard to make him "defensively responsible" and eventually it's going to prevent him to do what he does best: create offensively. Hodgson's not a two-way player and never will be. The Sabres need to stop trying to make him into one. Let him run and gun. That's when he's at his best. |

You are right but my concearn is the sabres need a # one . I think Grigs or Hodson could be real good #2 centers. I want a true #1. I want MacKinnon. Put Myers in a package who I would love to trade to get there. |

Agreed. I think that was way more a Ruff philosophy.
I can see Rolston letting Hodgson and Grigs create while leaving the D responsibilities to veterans or guys like Larsson and Catenacci in the future |

Grigorenko is going to be a true #1. You just have to have the patience to let him develop. |

Grigorenko is already far better defensively then CoHo. Hes not going to win a Selke (a la Fedorov, Toews), but hes going to be reliable enough, AGAIN, AS HE DEVELOPS |
