I 'd be shocked to see the Sabres go defense at pick 8.
However, I would not be shocked to see us grab Zach Fucale at 16 from what I have heard today when listening to Kris Baker.

That'd probably be the one thing that would piss me off - grabbing a goaltender in the 1st. I think it was DD or (not)homie who said you should draft a tender every draft - and I agree... but with Hackett, Enroth, Marakov (and then Knapp to a lesser degree) I don't think we need another d prospect...

...and I really, really want these guys to pull their heads out of their asses around building around goaltending. Build a good team first!

I see your point. My only quips are that Nichushkin has probably a 2% chance of falling to us, and Shinkaruk (to me, at least) seems just as far away as Lindholm... Here's how I see the situation:

Most likely to pick: Lindholm, Shinkaruk, Nichushkin.
Best player: Nichushkin, Lindholm, Shinkaruk.

I have a gut feeling that Nichuskin is going to get the Grigorenko treatment and fall to at least 8 or 9..

that is just my real gut for this weekend.

I also have a strong gut that someone in 1-7 will trade their pick.

Darcy is notorious for over valuing. Is he not?
The Flyers will be calling Darcy back if the Penguins or Blues don't beat the Flyers to Miller.

What I heard Kris Baker say is that Makarov was overplayed this year and suffered from being overplayed. Knapp , he does not sound very high on at all.
The one goalie in the system he seemed to really like and think can possibly make a jump is UllmarK.
Kris seems to think he will be ready before Knapp and Makarov.
Getting back to Fucale. I would not want the Sabres to go goalie and 16 either. It does sound as though there is quite a talent gap from Fucale to the next rated goalie to be drafted.
