o god yes

not to try and push this conversation towards a bad area, but the thing that irks me about the streit signing is that the money is pretty damn similar to what carle got. and i think carle's a better fit for this team (and hey, you know, the whole familiarity thing). and he's what, seven years younger?

maybe the shot from the point/pp skills actually turn out to be a huge boost for the flyers, but i personally think the carle contract is preferable to the one streit just signed

These are two different players, and not just due to age. Streit is an all star, who has outproduced Carle year in and year out, by far. Streit has better puck moving skills and hockey sense, a better shot and is a better PP QB and leader. Carle is a just a part that fits a role.

You can have a two barrel carb (Carle) in your classic musclecar, and things will run ok...but a four barrel (Streit) is more potent and will get you places quicker. You try and race people with a two barrell (Yzerman/Tampa putting Carle in a featured role) and you will probably get beat most of the time.

If Streit doesn't break down over the course of the next 4 yrs, which is a vlid concern, it will have been a good signing, and preferable to Carle imo.

That's a good point.. Streit is older, but he has a lot better shot from the point and will prob be a better replacement for Timonen.. I was reading on TSN last night in the comments, people were blasting the Flyers for signing him, and one person said.. why do the Flyers need another Timonen.. um he's not as good as Timonen, but it shows how out of touch some fans are.. i'd love to see him bring what Timo has.
