The trade Coburn talk is baffling

Put him with Kimmo and you have a great pair

Probably he would be OK too with Streit but I feel less certain there

- Marc D

Have to let it play out and see what happens. Coburn is a solid player. I have reservations on trading him. But I'll wait to see if he is traded, and what for. But I don't doubt that he's in play.

Well if they are getting rid if him I hope Homer makes a call.
He is going to cost a fricken ton

- Marc D

He was 29-38 as a 20-year-old...again, if it's me, I'm not moving that 16 months later.

I don't get that either. They need him on the blueline. Trade him and you have just opened another hole.

Been in New Jersey for half a day. I think everyone in the NHL is going to be traded. It's crazy.

You know what would kind of make me laugh? If there is basically no movement, and its one of the most silent drafts ever. Shove it up twitter's ass.

i'm all for a defensive shake up - any combination of mez-grossman-kimmo-coby-carle etc hasn't necessarily worked for the last few years... individually I think they are all fine players but as a unit of 6? I'd like to see us get younger (and faster) where we can on d. Much like the hawks this season I think the league is moving towards faster teams and a little further away from slower physical teams. I think it is possible to have a fast physical team much like the Kings 2012. Hopefully homer doesn't over compensate this off-season on d like he did last season with bringing in RH shots.

If coburn is the catalyst that sets off a series of changes on the D I'm all for it. Someone has to be the first to go. jmo.

Tobie Enstrom mugged as he was taking out money from an ATM.

Found on the ground with minor injuries and 3 were taken in custody.

Cooke, Marchand and?

Coburn's shot was wild and high 95% of time

That's why he wasn't given PP time

- Marc D

When he first got here he was potting goals and producing on par with some of the better D men in the league...(36 pts in 78 gms) his shooting % went from 8/9 to 5/4 to 3/2 = regression. I think a lot of his perceived value is from those earlier years...something went south with his game since then and I just don't think he's that valuable of a player right now...maybe with a change of scenery, under different coaching, maybe he rediscovers that better level of play, but given the uncertainty, I'm ok with going on without him.

I totally agree that the Flyers defense needs more skill and speed. I'll just add that Coburn skates really well. Especially for a guy his size.

Agree - but like Richie and Carts - Coburn will fetch a strong return - much more so than any of mez, gus, grossmann, or kimmo (who has a NMC). If the flyers truly want to shake up the defense and bring in more youth/speed then coby fetches the best return. jmo.

One of the best skaters I've ever seen, for his size. Effortless stride. Great to watch.

Iirc Coburn is the current Flyer with longest tenure on the team

Seems incredible that trade with Atlanta doesn't seem all that long ago

I guess that remains to be seen. I don't think you trade a player just because you'll get a great return. Coburn is a valuable player for the Flyers.

Ha! Yeah. For all the people who rip Paul Holmgren, "Alexei Zhitnik for Braydon Coburn" should be a rapid response, on Hotkeys.
