Ha! Yeah. For all the people who rip Paul Holmgren, "Alexei Zhitnik for Braydon Coburn" should be a rapid response, on Hotkeys. - AllInForFlyers
Haha for sure. That trade ended up being awesome, and I was actually a fan of Zhitnik when he played here.
I'm kind of in the middle with him now, that shine of bringing in Timonen, etc when he was first GM has worn off.
The Gagne/Walker/Shelley/Zherdev/Lilja/Leighton/Eminger/Bryzgalov situations have moved him closer to the hot seat imo. He started out with a bang, but has made some questionable calls since. Seems to chronically overpay. Not the worst GM, but he has given me some doubts. |

Tobie Enstrom mugged as he was taking out money from an ATM.
Found on the ground with minor injuries and 3 were taken in custody.

I think he will be judged on how the frick and frack deals and the jvr deal turns out down the road

Half the time, I'm not sure Homer and MacTavish have any idea, either. |

Shown good flashes but nothing sustained, maybe he'll prove better if moved. |

Can't argue with that, but even in recent years, he has also made some good deals.
Getting Voracek and Couturier for Carter is a good deal as i think Voracek has already become a better all around player than Carter.
Signing Jagr was a nice move as was picking up Grossmann for a late 2nd and a 4th.
I also liked the signing of Talbot and I have no prob with the JVR/Schenn trade |

I was happy with Homer's performance until basically 2011. The Richards/Carter trades are still up in the air, but Bryz/Bob situation has started to make me sour on him.. I still have no issue about the Pronger trade.. We'll see what happens in the next while, but if he poops the bed this offseason, I'd be open to Hextall coming in. |

Sorry, but you will never convince me that Ed Snider wasn't the main motivation behind the acquisition of Bryz, and if that's the case, there wasn't anything Holmgren could have done about it. |

Its just me, but I think if the team has trouble next season depending on what he does, he will be on the hot seat.
You would figure Lava is the first to go, but I cant imagine Holmgren wouldn't be too far behind.
The safest best honestly, might be him to just stand pat and take the patient approach as most of us have been saying. Don't really know what kind of pressure Snider is putting down though. Will be an interesting summer for sure. |

I disagree. There's a lot you can do if you have 37, 41 and 56 in the second round. This is a very deep draft. if they were to do this deal they could combine 2 and trade up and bring in 3 quality young prospects. In addition to Paarjavi. keep in mind this teams best years are ahead of them, not really the immediate future. |

Exactly -- the only reason you don't get fired is because you were told to do it.
That's the only way -- again, Ed Snider is many things, and we can all be critical of some of them.
But he's a businessman, and he's a successful one. You don't cut checks like he's doing for Bryzgalov if he doesn't know that this one's on him. |

i don't know - paajarvi has size, speed, moves and can fill the 3rd line LW role which is currently vacant (plus his upside is still there). The trade would save almost $3 million in cap space so the the flyers could go after a defenseman in FA (not a top one albeit - a lot will depend on a healthy Mez this season)... they'd also keep the 11th and have three 2nd round picks in a deep draft to restock the cupboards. Might be a good trade, even though we'd lose coburn. |

Not great, but this is a real deep draft. They could also package Read and 2 second rounders for a defenseman. I don't know enough about Paarjavi to be an advocate of the deal, but if he can be an asset on the 3rd line I'd seriously consider this deal if in fact this is the deal.
