[quote=AllInForFlyers]I already politely informed mine what this weekend is. She rolled her eyes, smiled, and said "you're lucky to have me around when you do 48 straight hours of hockey. What do you want for dinner?"
Too bad the next sentence was, "good get it yourself." - LJF
Well, she does love me! I'm extremely adorable, don't you know.

He wasn't forced to fly Bryz over to Philly in Snider's jet either.
I think if it was homer's idea, he would be in a situation a lot loke Gillis is in Vancouver. Everyone is talking about him losing his job over the luongo situation, when he is trying to get anything to help lessen the damage of his contract handed out. Homer just released Bryz, with no compensation at all. All things equal, I'd say Homer is getting a pass because his boss knows why they got into that situation. - the deaninator
true, but that doesn't prevent him from using vokoun to drive down bryzs price |

Dreger just said on nhl network that holmgren has 2 trades. 7 and 4th round from edmonton or the 5th from Carolina - phatpat44
Coburn + 11th = Carolina's #5 pick?
Is that what is proposed? |

Well...I haven't told her about July 5 yet.

I'm screwed on the 5th, its our anniversary.
At least she's beautiful and after 21 years of marriage, still my best friend so I really can't complain! |

No but he was forced to go out and deal for Bryzgalov's rights. Once you do that, you are almost always going to overpay. I don't believe Ed Snider would have been ok with just trading for his rights and then having Holmgren say, sorry boss, his agent wants more than I'm willing to spend so I'm just gonna let him go.
Perhaps he could have gotten a slightly more favorable deal, but either way Bryz was coming to Philly whether Holmgren liked it or not. - BiggE
we don't know to what extent eds directive was to homer, but if you want to acquire a plyr there's a right way to do it and that wasn't it. |

Truthfully? I don't think Holmgren liked it at all. It was his staff that went out and found Sergei Bobrovsky. They turned that kid up.
Paul Holmgren is not afraid of young players. He would've let Bobrovsky start for the next few seasons as the No. 1, coming off a 28-13-8 season. I absolutely believe that.
And if anybody thinks Paul Holmgren would've traded Bobrovsky if he had known there would be compliance buyouts the next year, you just hate Paul Holmgren just for the hell of it.

bryz was considered the top goalie in the market at the time. Getting Vokun would have been going after the perceived lesser goalie, which wouldn't have met snider's demands. It would be like the beezer situation all over again. Only this time, in retrospect, Vokun would have been the more sensible choice.
Could you imagine throwing Bryz' contract at Vokun though? Nobody saw his contract coming when he signed with washington. |

Paajarvi sounds a little too much like Zherdev to me - 77rams
Wow, don't confuse youth and trying to find your role/style as a player (Paajarvi) with lack of effort and off-ice problems (Zherdev). |

absolutely agree. THey scouted Bob all year prior to signing him. He came over, and played well right from the start. Lavy handled him terribly, and caused snider to go out and say "no more goalie carousel".
Bob was brought in to be the goalie of the future, not the quick fix. |

Unless it's one of Hall, Eberle, or Schultz, I really don't want ANYONE from Edmonton. Just keep Coburn and draft the player you think will best help this team at #11. |

People on here are far under valuing Coburn and have for a while. He is a very solid defenseman. Bob McKenzie had him on team Canada for Sochi last summer. I do think #5 is an overpayment by Carolina, but hey |

Bobby = to much $$$, Flyers need to some how use cheep and effective players for the next three years and hope the cap jumps so they can keep a young core for years of deep runs. |

It was the "good flashes..better if moved" that caught my attention. The "flashes" I can attribute to a youngster finding his way. The needing to be "moved" frighted me. Why would you need to be moved to play in the NHL? |

If this draft is as deep as they say, and only has 4-5 top players, I don't see the need to move up 4 spots. |
